i just bought this album and have listened to it in the car, carried it into work, and back out into the car for lunch, then back to work for 2 days now. that is the mark of a great album to me; worth going through the pain of carrying it around with you. i can't stop listening to it, and i mean the whole thing. there is no need to skip around, just put it in a push play. particular favs are "just might have her radio on", "hey batter, batter", and "one wing in the fire." this is definately an album to buy and not just a song to download because "drunker than me" is not the only cut worth having.

You get Trent Tomlinson's aptly-titled COUNTRY IS MY ROCK. Some songs on here, you can picture being covered by Metallica. Others harken straight to the days of Merle Haggard and George Jones. It's a grab-bag where every prize is a lyrical/melodic treasure. Tomlinson's got the right mix of attitude, tenderness, and just-don't-give-a-damn to pull off a country/rock album of this caliber.

Country music has always been based upon a turn of a phrase, and Tomlinson and his co-writers have a definite knack for it. "The sunbeam hit the Jim Beam and ricocheted off a bottle of coke," he sings on "Angels Like Her" ("send guys like me straight to Hell"). Later: "I ain't gonna do that, no not 'til the next time." Even the slightly-cliched title track ("Give me some Hag, give me the Possum, with screamin' guitars on top/'Cause country is my rock") has a deeper subtext, if you wanna listen that closely. I reccommend it--good country music has always been about subtlety. Great country music, however, has always been about a blend between catchy melodies and thoughtful lyrics. That's where COUNTRY IS MY ROCK falls (or, if you will, soars). Certainly one of the strongest debuts in quite a while (following on the heels of Ray Scott's MY KIND OF MUSIC and Jamey Johnson's THE DOLLAR), Tomlinson's debut record is about to become a hit-maker. But more than that, it is a true, honest, genuine country record, with enough rockin' attitude to make sure you crank the speakers way up, roll the windows down, throw your arm around your girl...or put another quarter in the jukebox and hold tight to your beer. This is an album you don't wanna miss.

I enjoyed the entire CD. Overall you can't go wrong by adding this one to your CD collection. There were five songs that I really liked and they were: "Country is My Rock," "Cheatin' On My Honky-Tonk," "I Was Gonna Leave Tomorrow Anyway," "Angels Like Her," and "Just Might Have Her Radio On."

WORTH THE LISTEN

Buy it! Every song on this cd is so good! Whether you are a die-hard country fan, or more of a southern rocker, this will instantly be your favorite cd. (I have xm in my car and 6-cd player, BUT this is the only thing I've listened to since I bought it 2 weeks ago.) Yes, it's THAT good!

Very seldom do I find a CD that I can say I love every track. There's not a song on this album that isn't enjoyable. There are songs that will take you back to your rowdy days, some that will make you miss home, and others that will make you hug your wife. I find myself popping this one in more often than many of my long time favorites. Also check out Eric Church, sinners like me. Both albums will quickly become favorites, and permanent fixtures in the changer. Enjoy Ya'll.

this is one of my favorites country cds and trent tomlinson is MORE COUNTRY than most people think. every single song on this album he wrote himself. They are all outstanding songs, i especially like the next time, the bottle and I was gonna leave tommorow anyways. this pure COUNTRY album blows carrie underwood a million miles away.

So I've heard Trents songs b4 on the radio..but didnt think anything about it when i was forced to go to his concert in Lowell...at a lil place called DCS COUNTRY JUNCTION!!!...(its a line dancing place...and the coolest place ever hahah)....i love rock...but this his songs are on the line of rock and country...i bought his cd after the concert...true story...and i knew half of his songs...which i thought was awesome!!...

This CD is really great. I find myself playing it over and over.

When I heard Drunker Than Me on the radio, I had a feeling this was a CD to get. The entire CD is awesome. Every song ROCKS!
