It's a well made rag rug for a good price - not an easy find these days. The colors are exactly as represented in the photo and the rug seems to be tightly loomed. I haven't washed it yet (the cats have so far refrained from using it as a hairball catcher). If I run into problems after the first wash, I'll make sure to post an update.

I study feng shui, and I understood this would bring more of a "water element" into my space. Indeed it did, but I'm afraid it's one element I can overdo. To say my intuition is strong is a very understated comment to begin with, so the impact of the dark tone and coloration was noticeable. I can say as an air sign it might work somewhere else, but I'll have to see how it fares in another room sometime, or when the flying star changes occur. Right now, it's in a north/northwest room where the yearly 1 star is but also the period 9 star. In other words, it's overdoing the water element as I said, but in other homes, the north might be alright as the period sees the 4 jade star. I'm noticing some challenge with it this particular month, but I noticed a drastic change when taking away a green braided jute rug that I think could still be a good, or more appropriate, fit. My first inclination was to do a red, white, and blue theme as that was what the room started with, but being that it's an East Indian rug, it doesn't match that. Not to say it's a bad rug in any way. I also bought some India curtains, not realizing origin, before also buying a leather rug that I assumed was native american - also East Indian. I'm ready for a different color than blue, because even though this is a water snake year, I know I've had poor luck with water element personalities, besides the decor influence. I honestly like the rug, it's a high contrast rug that a person notices immediately as they encounter the room. It is matched with red walls and a white dropcloth on a sofa. I have also a striped brown slipcover on a chair. At night it darkens the room unfavorably. For now, it's a disappointment, but it's a dark room to begin with.Read more ›
