Maps needed for country roads, November 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Country Roads of South Carolina (Paperback)
This book has an enticing title and attractive cover. But the contents are disappointing. I do not understand a guidebook of "Drives, day trips, and weekend excursions" without maps. There are no pictures, either. I also think the title is misleading. This is a general guidebook to South Carolina, not really a description of country roads. The sights of Columbia, Greenville, and Charleston, for example, may be interesting, but city streets hardly qualify as country roads.
On the plus side, the book contains a lot of good information on historic places throughout the state.
For a top-notch comprehensive South Carolina guide with maps and pictures, I suggest Henry Leifermann's Compass American Guide to the state.
