backcountry skiing,
By Michael Kerby (Meadow Valley, Ca United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Backcountry Skiing California's High Sierra (Paperback)
This is a good guide for those that are experienced at backcountry winter travel. He shows several routes and peak descents, and rates them according to difficulty. There is some basic information on winter travel, including snow camping and avalanche safety, but you would be wise to study these topics further before attempting any of these routes.

This review is from: Backcountry Skiing California's High Sierra (Paperback)
The book is great and the info is exactly what you need for a good back country tour. I'm not sure if I just got a bad run or if all the Amazon editions have this problem, but my book skips from page 18-58, meaning that it's missing the whole first chapter of ski tours. I didn't realize it until I was on the plane to the sierras and couldn't find the tours listed in the table of contents. You may want to buy this book off the shelf to be sure you get the whole thing.
