Encouragement Builder,
By Melanie Blanton (Clifton, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Courage for the Chicken Hearted (Paperback)
The book tells of many aspects of women's lives, including parenting. It is nice to hear that the things I go through and am challenged by, are what most women go through. The book really encourages us to find humor in our situations. It encourages us to continue on the path that God has chosen for us. Very well written.

Full of inspiration, heart-tugs, and fun!,

This review is from: Courage for the Chicken Hearted (Paperback)
I can't imagine why this book wouldn't touch someone's heart! It's full of the true-life experiences of five women in various stages of their lives and gives a very candid view of their sorrows, their joys, and even some embarrassing -- but humorous -- moments. I'm going to get copies for several of my friends. This book is about real women dealing with real situations in life. Those of us juggling family, work, career, homelife, church, community, and a million other challenges will definitely relate to this candid and inspiring book!

"Cracked me up"...,
This review is from: Courage for the Chicken Hearted (Paperback)
I LOVED this book...I'm a Becky Freeman fan anyway so when someone loaned me this book I knew at least HER stories would be good...but I "cackled" with delight at the other "hens" stories as well. A merry heart does good like a medicine...if you need a merry heart...take a dose of this book...it's all it's "cracked up" to be ...and more. And I especially enjoyed all the plays on words on the "chicken theme".

Are you a middle-aged housewife?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Courage for the Chicken Hearted (Paperback)
I was sleeping and cringing through this book...basically a compilation of the life events of these women, and i guarantee you that it is nothing exciting enough to warrant a book! These new authors are so "egg-cited" to write a book that they got carried away with the chicken catch phrases. Unless your "little chicks have left the nest" i recommend that you don't crack this egg open.

At the doctors office, he had to wait for me to finish.,

I found this book at my doctors office and I became so engrossed with the stories I actually told him to wait for me to finish the section I was on. This book is fun and sad, quite the emotional ride of everyday life. Enjoy... I did.

These five women put together a book that kept me on a rollercoaster of emotions from laughing to crying. I can't wait until they put out another book. Thank God for women like these

Something for every woman, in every stage of life!,

This review is from: Courage for the Chicken Hearted (Paperback)
Once I picked up this book, I couldn't put it down! The five authors write of experiences in their lives with such transparency, and always with a touch of humor, that it was impossible not to relate to the stories they shared. It was encouraging to find that other women experience the same issues in life, and that there are lessons to be learned, and victories to be won as we continue to grow.

Egg-septional encouragement!,

The authors know how to make you laugh and how to make you cry--all at the same time. They deal with powerful issues like the loss of a son, but keep an upbeat spin on facing both the big and little issues in life.

Thankfully I had the courage to return this book to the store for a refund--the first time I have ever done that. I am not a literary snob, but please ... don't talk down to me with such trivial attempts at humor. A total waste of time and money.
