Book Review of Courage to Flee: Living a Moral Life in an Immoral World,
This review is from: Courage to Flee: Living a Moral Life in an Immoral World (Paperback)
Because there are so many relational/purity books in print, I think it's easy for Christians desiring a Biblical world view regarding purity to feel at a loss of where to even start reading. Most of us don't have the time, money, or desire to wade through a stack or relational/purity books looking for a few diamonds in the rough. So where do you even start? Well, I believe that Pastor Jeff Klick's Courage to Flee: Living a Moral Life in an Immoral World is an excellent starting point for anyone desiring to bring their love lives under Christ's control. I have personally known Pastor Klick for many years, so I can appreciate how he honestly and openly shares about our ability to avoid and overcome sexual temptation. Whether you are single, dating, courting, engaged, married, or parenting, Courage to Flee should be a book in your library. No matter your situation in life, whether on the road to becoming or simply trying to remain pure, this book will encourage you to escape the traps of immorality and raise your children with positive, Biblical values. The pledge to abstain from sex before marriage is not enough. Single people must follow through with a life of sexual abstinence except for marriage. And all people who marry must remain faithful to their spouse. And if people are widowed or divorced, they must resume abstinence. Scripture gives all humans two options to fulfill their sexuality: abstinence while single or heterosexual marriage. And if we have fallen from sexual purity, God can cleanse and restore us through the death and resurrection of Jesus. I appreciate the fact that Pastor Klick talks candidly about purity and relationships, the way he addresses these topics is never inappropriate, so a preteen could read Courage to Flee without losing a piece of their purity and innocence in the process, a single adult could read it without feeling talked down to, or a married person can read it as a message of hope and victory. Whether or not you are on the slippery slope of compromise, this book will encourage you!Grace and peace, Julian P. Weber

"Courage to Flee" by Dr. Jeff Klick is a much-needed book in today's culture where lust and impurity are common-place. The book provides a strong biblical warning to those approaching the slippery slope of impurity, as well as great hope and practical counsel to those who have slid down its banks and are now entangled in the mud and quicksand of sin. This book should be in the hands of every pastor, as well as every man and woman who needs to know the biblical solution to freedom and purity."--Mike Cleveland, Pastor of Preaching and Vision, Ohio Valley Church and Founder and President of Setting Captives Free Ministry.

I thought Pastor Klick should be commended for having the "Courage to Write this Book."Our family has examined the topic of purity for some time now. There are many books on the subject, but not many as concise and easy to read as Pastor Klick's. I appreciate the candor and humility that shows in _Courage to Flee_. Through reading this book, I realized that the time to instruct our children regarding moral purity is now--not when they are involved in a marital or personal problem. It is easy to forget to teach your children concepts, rather than construct rules to keep them on the "straight and narrow." Without understanding, I believe many will fall away from healthy personal habits. This book promotes that understanding. _Courage to Flee_ would also be a good place to start for families new to the ideas of modesty and personal purity. Some of the concepts Pastor Klick explains will seem extreme to some folks. "Really? Not frequenting water parks because of the amount of skin shown by others?" Thus enters the "Flee" part of _Courage to Flee_, because it *does* take courage to buck society and simply avoid certain things, for fear of moral failure. Society will tell you you are weird for doing that--Pastor Klick encourages that self-awareness, for we are all human. I believe that _Courage to Flee_ lays down a challenge that, if taken up and crusaded, can help turn the tide of moral failure in our churches.

Every Male Should Read This, and It Wouldn't Hurt the Ladies Either!,
This review is from: Courage to Flee: Living a Moral Life in an Immoral World (Paperback)
Sex is everywhere in today's culture. You can not turn on the television, go to a store, even leave your home without being confronted with immorality, immodesty, crudeness and vulgarity at every turn. How is a Christian or any decent person supposed to deal with this onslaught of temptation, this bombardment of sensuality, this assault on morality?Reading and following the Scripturally-based principles and teaching of COURAGE TO FLEE is one great way to handle the plague of lewd and licentious garbage that seeks as the Bible says, "to steal and destroy." The wisdom Pastor Klick shares will benefit both males and females in "living a moral life in an immoral world," the subtitle of this book. This is the kind of book in which you will want to be constantly underlining, highlighting, and starring. You will find yourself nodding in agreement and exclaiming, "Yes!" "That's right!" "Lord, help us!" I sincerely can not recommend this book highly enough. Every family should have AND READ a copy! (Recommended for 13 and older).

Right Word in Right Season,
This review is from: Courage to Flee: Living a Moral Life in an Immoral World (Paperback)
Without knowing nothing more than my name and the fact that I like K-Love radio, a new co-worker of mine gave me this book when I coincidentally happened to be at a seminar at her Church with some friends (that neither of us knew we'd both be attending). She handed me this book unaware of anything I was currently facing in my life and this book was the RIGHT WORD in RIGHT SEASON! There is so much pressure, temptation and struggle around me as a young adult, Christian girl growing up in a sex driven, ungodly society. I've seemingly "failed" a lot in living a pure life, however, as Dr. Klick states in his book, "Failing doesn't make you a failure." God can redeem, restore and heal wounds from broken relationships and poor choices if we confess our sins, He's faithful and just to forgive them and part of repentence is turning AWAY from them. We are encouraged to FLEE sexual sins, which means to run as fast as we can away from them. This book gave me so much insight on boundaries to set in workplaces and even the marriage I hope to one day have. It let me in on some thought patterns of men, how to conduct myself in a manner that protects my brothers in Christ and things that I should be learly of if they are acting or presenting themselves to me in certain ways. This is a book I HIGHLY recommend.
