5.0 out of 5 stars the story of the most fantastic and grabbing adventure ever, March 17, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Of Courage Undaunted (Paperback)
I have read of courage undaunted writen by James Daughterty, the story is captivated in a 163 page book. The time frame for this story is in the 1800 and and features the main characters Meriwether Lewis and William Clark in there adventure of mapping the Westerness of America. I love this book the most because of the dates they add in all the stories, every time something happens they tell where and when it happens which is good to know if your writing a book report. The worst part of this book is the amout of pictures in it, you cant get past one page without having to look at a huge drawing. I would definitly recomend this book for people who like adventure non fiction books, and I would especially recomend this if you are one of those people who like picture books.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good choice about Lewis & Clark and the times they lived in, November 19, 2008

This review is from: Of Courage Undaunted (Paperback)
We are reading this book at home along with our other history reading. It gives a closer view of the challenges Lewis & Clark and their team faced being specific about the different Indian tribes and their personalities, the variety of animals they fought and ate, and the contributions of the members of the group. Both Lewis and Clark kept journals with detailed notes about their experience and many excerpts are included in the text. We have read a few books on the subject and really enjoy this one because it makes you feel like you are there with them. It's not too psychological, though, which makes it better for younger audiences. The type is large (~14pt) for younger readers, there is an itinerary, an index, and beautiful drawings.

I used this book this year as part of our Explorers studies for my 1st grade ds. I was very satisfied with it. Overall, an excellent and easy to read "summary" of the Lewis and Clark expedition.

This review is from: Of Courage Undaunted (Paperback)
I am reading this book aloud to the children every day. This book is full of information, journal entries, and really lays out the journey Lewis and Clark were on. It tells a very true account of Sacajawea. This book is a great read when working with Lewis and Clark or if you study History in a timeline fashion, like we do.
