The great classic work, A Course in Miracles, is devoted to teachings about who we are, our relationships to God and with each other, and the actually mental nature of our bodies and the world. There are three constituent parts to the Course: The Text, a Workbook for Students, and the Manual for Teachers. The Text lays out the theoretical foundation for the metaphysical system of the Course. The Workbook contains a series of 365 Lessons to be practiced daily for the purpose of retraining the mind and healing our perception. Finally, the Manual contains information for and about advanced teachers of God. The Course is also about miracles, which students understand to be, in part, a shift in perception to healed vision. But miracles are more than a shift in perception, because the shift has consequences in the world as we see it. The Course is a self study educational program for retraining the mind that is spiritual, rather than religious, in its perspective. Although the Course uses Christian terminology, it expresses a universal experience, and its underlying ontology is reminiscent of ancient refrains, echoing the world's most hallowed traditions.

About the Author

The story of the Course began when Columbia University research psychologist Dr. William T. Thetford decided he had had enough of the the intensely competitive and negative climate he was experiencing and declared to his colleague, Dr. Helen Shucman, "There must be another way, and I am determined to find it. She agreed to help. What ensued was a dramatic progression of waking dreams for Shucman, which culminated in October of 1965 with her experience of a voice which spoke clearly in her mind, saying, "This is a course in miracles. Please take notes."

For students of a Course in Miracles the closer we get to the original text the better. All edition process demands selection and therefore at times ommision, at times slidings of meaning which occassionally improve and often deteriorate the original message.

In a book that claims to have been revealed by Jesus Christ the closer we get to work with the original text the better. Thanks for the effort of bringing to print this edition.

This, the so called "Original" or "Hugh Lynn Cayce" version "for the most part" is less formal, more conversational, feels more loving TO ME. I mean by that, that it is more like a conversation, than a lecture, like a loving brother or sister or Mom or Dad or friend "for the most part" talking with you, as opposed to a school lecture. This makes it easier FOR ME to understand. And I think has a more profound message for those who agree with me. For those who do not, the latest version from the Foundation is the one you should use. Look them both over before you buy one. Minds are different in their perception and the Course version you prefer, will depend on your mind and preferred method of learning. I study and teach the Course. I have been a student since 1990. I began with the Foundation version and it has been, well, what can I say, words are inadequete, it has been a blessing, a Blessing. But I feel now I want to start using the Hugh Lynn Casey version. I tell you that, and spend time writing this, because part of the learning of the Course is that; we have to make up our own mind about things - we have to choose our own way - independent of others - but with the help of our Inner Teacher or Advisor or Christ, call it what feels best to you. And with that in mind, read over and choose the version that feels best to you, regardless of what anyone says. In that way, you will be guided by the work itself to know what to do, not only which version to read, but what to do, what to do in all things. If you like, I am at [e-mail]. Good luck! (:--)

It is not very often we come across a book that says so much about who we are and why we are here. The error in perception, the illusion of separation, and why there is no such thing as guilt and sin are all central to its theme, and yet there is so much more. The wording of the text is almost biblical in tone, but such is the strength of its message it cannot fail to inspire those who open its pages. If you are genuine in your desire to understand the true meaning of your existence, including the cause of all your pain and suffering, then this really is the beginning of a journey that will change your life forever.

`Truth is restored to you through your desire, as it was lost to you through your desire for something else. Open the holy place that you closed off by valuing the "something else," and what was never lost will quietly return.'

It is a truly inspirational book without comparison. My only advice is that you take your time and understand the true depth of its message.
