4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Use, Nice result
I was able to layout the court and paint it in about 45 minutes. The template is well marked and easy to use. All tt took was measuring the starting point and the rest of the court (including the three point line) all fell into place. After it dried I was able to repack the template for use again after I sealcoat my drive in the spring....

2.0 out of 5 stars Not quite as pictured
I did quite a bit of research and found that this was the only template out there. For the price, I expected much more out of this product. I was very discouraged to find that it was almost impossible to ensure the accuracy of all the measurements. The advertised picture indicates that the key and 3 point line touch the out of bounds line. That is not true. They come up...

The idea for this stencil is great. The product falls a little short in a few areas but gets the job done decently.

Pros - folds out of the box nicely, compact, dimensions are very close to perfect, easy to work with, seems like it's reusable.

Cons - flimsy cardboard gets blown around by small amount of wind until you tape it down and lets spray paint blead outside of the stencil area, the directions are so awful that you're basically on your own for the finer points of installing this, not enough spray paint to do the key and 3-point line, rolling the paint on rather than spraying would work better.

I would recommend this product if you don't want to invest in a very expensive metal stencil as there is nothing else out there at a reasonable price and it does get the job done. Here's what you need to know for this product to work well (note: I only painted the key due to space limitations but I assume the recommendations below would apply somewhat to the 3-point line as well):

1. Download complete dimensions for a college court from the web so you can refer to them during installation
2. Square up the backboard to the space your working with so your key isn't off center or angled
3. Make sure your starting point on either side of the backboard is in line with backboard by hanging a plum line from either corner of the backboard by measuring the plum mark to the wall behind the backboard and where the foul line should be
4. Fold out the full key and foul line before you start taping anything down
5. Starting point for folding out the key tencil is 6' from center of backboard to outside corner of the first stencil that will be painted closest to the backboard (will make sense when you fold out the key)
6. Measure from the outside of the stencil line of each section across 12' to the same on the other side and tape each section down with masking tape (not duct tape - too sticky and stencil rips when you take the tape off)
7. Make sure the fould line is the right distance from your backboard plum line before you tape too much of the stencil down but make sure you tape every section down (including the hashmarks and blocks)
8. Don't use the box everything comes in as the "paint guard" as it doesn't work well because it's not deep enough, which forces you spray very close to the ground causing too much paint use and contributes to bleading outside of the stencil area (also once you use the box you don't have a good box to put everything back in when you're done)
9. Use a box that's least 12" deep for your paint guard and cut a 3" x 26" slot to spray through (not 4" x 28" that's too big
10. Watch out for paint blead - spray lightly and quickly and do the hash marks and block first before you paint the rest of the key (and modify the opening in your paint guard box for the hash marks and block or you will get bleading around them and/or excess spray will hit the driveway around them)
11. Paint will get on the bottom of your "paint guard" box so be careful not to put it down on the driveway
12. Watch the YouTube videos of this being installed
13. The key took about 3 hours start to finish without the advanced scouting above. Good luck.

They come up about 3 feet short, so you have to extend them, once you have made your own out of bounds line. This kit is just short of a jigsaw puzzle. Once you get all the pieces laid out and taped down, you have to do a tremendous amount of cutting. I wish the manufacturer would have included a picture of the template with the dashed lines, just so that it would not have been such a disappointment when I started to lay it out. I read all the feedback on this and it was all positive. I guess those folks were OK with having their court marked out with dashed lines. Once you cut out all the bridged pieces to get solid lines, the template it not reusable. It took 3 1/2 cans of paint and I still need to fill in the end of the key and three point line to get them to touch the out of bounds line.

Bottom line: I am happy with the end result, but am very disappointed in some of the missing/misleading information from the manufacturer.

This was easy to use, simply unfold the cardboard template out onto the court, tape it down and paint. We used paint brushes and a special paint that is good for concrete, but we also used the enclosed white spray paint on the blocks and that worked great and was less work. We did one extra step than what the directions stated. Before we started we hung plumb line from the corners of the backboard to establish a straight line that was parallel with the backboard. That helped us in lining up the template flush with the backboard. The court looks great -recommend this product.
