This is Lynne's debut book for Harlequin Special Edition and she wrote an excellent book. It is the story of Jack and Annie who were friends as teens who were also in love but not admitting it to each other. After graduation from high school Anne left home in hopes of leaving her heartbreak behind only to find that it still existed when she had to return years later after her parents had been in a serious accident and needed her help to recover.
Jack had loved Anne but found himself pretending to be in love with her best friend who became seriously ill in high school because the friend needed to believe in Jack's love to get through her illness. Unfortunately the friend did not survive and Anne left town never giving Jack a chance to tell her how he really felt. Now with Jack helping with her father's care she can not avoid him and he is determined that this second chance at love will end in marriage between them.
