Original, fascinating plot, full of passionate undercurrents,

This review is from: Courting Julia (Signet Regency Romance) (Paperback)
Julia's step-grandfather, the old Earl, leaves his family well provided for when he dies. All, that is, except for JULIA who faces the prospect of penury UNLESS she marries one of the Earl's five nephews within one month The prospect of gaining rich properties and land promised to whoever becomes her husband ensures that she is courted assiduously by her step-cousins, each for his own, selfish, reasons. This novel has well-sketched, and interesting characters that make the unusual plot credible. It bristles throughout with suspense and barely suppressed passion.

Sigh!,

I am quite undone. This was one of the best romance I ever read in... well... ever. This is a story about a rather powerful love/hate relationship among two step-cousins. Daniel is always a stickler for propriety while Julia is bent on enjoying life to the fullest. As a child Julia was always smitten with Daniel and tried in her own childish ways to win his approval. Nevertheless, Daniel did disapprove of her and never had any qualms about showing her how much. Yet there is no denying that he cares for her as he keeps stepping in to protect her from herself. And, of course, the Passion is there. It was a fascinating story and one that I would recommend to anyone.

I took a little break from reading Harlequin Presents to read a Regency Romance. I have read other books of this era but its been awhile. Needless to say it was very enjoyable. The heroine, Julia was feisty and headstrong and adventurous and just a lot of fun. She had no problems speaking her mind and defying convention. The hero, Daniel, was handsome, rich, titled, serious and brooding. Definitely opposites right? But he put his hair down later thanks to the heroine, although I'm not sure I believe that Daniel can immediately change his "stuffy" principles. But love changes everyone and he does have a "good teacher" hehe. It was also nice to see a little bit of the personalities of the four other rivals. I think the growing romance between the two characters was believable. Highly recommended!
