5.0 out of 5 stars Dolph is the man!, July 2, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cover-Up (DVD)
Despite the sudden ending that leaves you wondering if Dolph lives are dies, this is actually an entertaining movie. Louis Gossett plays his role very well and adds credibility to the cast. The web of deception in Cover Up takes a turn that is shocking. Great movie!
This is a five star product-

3.0 out of 5 stars terrorism in the holyland, October 19, 2009
By
This review is from: Cover-Up (DVD)
The terrorist group black October takes responsibility
for the bombing of a US Naval base in Israel.
The hero meets his previous lover and his best friend
while covering the story for an LA newspaper.
As a semi-famous best selling writer as well as reporter
he seems to have methods of getting to the truth
that something was stolen under the cover of the suicide bombing
attack. Finding out what that "package' was results
in people trying to kill him.
The bottom of the mystery is interesting, but
we get the feeling he just never gets paranoid enough
to solve it without some miracle escapes?
I liked the action, but I think the script has
the Dolph Lundgren character looking like a dope
right up to the end.

3.0 out of 5 stars a lackluster tale of intrigue set in the Holy land..., November 23, 2011
This review is from: Cover-Up (DVD)
Directed by Manny Coto (Dr. Giggles), Cover-Up (1991) is a suspense thriller set in Israel, when an American reporter played by Dolph Lundgren, gets involved in intrigue and mystery, as he looks into an attack on a US naval facility. The story is rather muddled and slow moving, and things are a little flat in the action department, until near the end. While the film is watchable and might seem to be grounded a bit more in reality, the finish doesn't deliver quite enough to save the film from being only mildly entertaining at best.

Reporter Mike Anderson (Lundgren) arrives in Tel Aviv to cover an attack on the Bedford Naval Base, during which marines were killed, and a top secret "package" stolen. According to press spokesperson Susan Clifford (Lisa Berkley), a terrorist group called Black October has claimed responsibility. Anderson's buddy army Colonel John Cooper (John Finn), the military attaché attached to the American embassy, is handling the case. Susan and Mike were once romantically involved, but she is now engaged to Cooper.

Anderson begins to investigate, and seems to be making some progress, but things enter a new phase after Cooper is blown up by a car bomb. This leads to Susan and Mike teaming up together. Mike also becomes involved with Lou Jackson, a member of army intelligence, who apparently is being setup to be a fall guy for losing the secret package. Jackson is played by Oscar winner Louis Gossett Jr., who had previously co-starred with Lundgren in The Punisher (1989). Gossett lays it on a bit thick, but he does add a little muscle to a film that doesn't have much to spare. With mostly pedestrian action scenes, Cover-Up isn't very spectacular. While still mostly a vehicle for Dolph Lundgren, he isn't action hero material here, playing more of a regular guy, kind of lumbering his way along. Lisa Berkley does pretty well in her first and only film appearance so far. Things slowly build to a dramatic twist, as the action ramps up to the finish, which is both very messy and kind of obscure.

The image quality of this edition isn't very impressive, comparable to a VHS type transfer, in what is a very barebones release. A little unpolished, this movie earns 2.5 stars.
