let me first say that I used to be a really big guttermouth fan.
Musical monkey, live at the pharmacy, the album formerly known as full
length EP- you name it I owned it. I was really pleased with all of
their releases until now. About the only good thing about this album
is the name "covered in ants." Guttermouth's sound has
totally changed with this album. In the past their sound was hard
hitting, fast punk rock with that certain dont-give-a-.... attitude.
When i first popped in the cd i was suprised by how SLOW it was. to
tell the truth I was disgusted. People! their sound is now almost
like pop! this music is for tapping your feet and wiggling your ass,
not slamdancing. Ive thought alot about why their new album sucks so
much and ive come up with several reasons. first, they kicked out
their drummer derek. second, they said in the insert of their live
album that they do their best work under pressure. It took quite a
while for this one to come out, no pressure there. third, their now
on epitaph. boooo! epitaph is the biggest sell out lable out there,
jeez give me a break. there are probably a lot more reasons why they
suck now, maybe they stopped snorting coke or somthing or they got too
rich and ran out of punk things to sing about. the bottom line is if
you like guttermouth, then you wont like the new guttermouth. Its sad
but true. dont waste your money and pop in your copy of musical monkey
and listen to lucky the donkey and remember the good old days.
P.S. what the heck is with this new "G" logo? what ever
happened to pencil drawings of men bending over and spreading their
butt cheeks?

Did I just buy a Blink 182 album? Is this really Guttermouth? I'm not quite sure what happened to them but it seems the fun (thrash) has left. safe and fun for the whole family....anyway I'll give them 2 stars instead of one because theres a couple of funny lines on it. But its no where near their tour de force 'Musical Monkey' and 'Gorgeous'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guttermouth......woo!, August 12, 2001

This cd, though it may not be the cleanest or the best, is still a good guttermouth cd. If you think not, remember you are buying(or listening to) a cd that has the name "Guttermouth". It is a good cd, if you like punk, you would probably like this cd.

Unlike their other cd's, there is not as much cussing and humor. This cd still has alot of the stuff guttermouth has had on their other cd's, just not as much. I encourage everyone to give it a listen because this cd anyone will enjoy even if they dont like rock or punk. Some of the songs they have been gettin air play with is "shes got the look" and "secure horizons". Even though not much people have heard bout this cd, I think its a pretty good

3.0 out of 5 stars A New Guttermouth, August 24, 2001
This review is from: Covered With Ants (Audio CD)
In Las Vegas, Guttermouth played a free concert in Tower Records the day this album came out premoting it. I went to the concert and it was really good, even though it was cut short by security, and I believe the only song they played from this album was She's Got The Look. I purchased the CD at the Tower Records and when the concert ended I went home and listened to it. I was quite surprised with what I heard. This is not in any way a bad album, but it doesn't match up with albums of their past shuch as Musical Monkey and Teri Yakimoto. Also I would like to add I don't consider this at all Guttermouth selling out, now there on the same lable as other punk bands such as Pennywise. If you are in the market for a Guttermouth CD, make sure you get Musical Monkey, and maybe some time later, Covered With Ants.

3.0 out of 5 stars First Guttermouth cd i bought., February 22, 2003

This is the furst guttermouth cd is bought. I really think that track 2 is wicked. This album is basically worth getting for that one track. As for the others, after musical monkey, guttermouth only got worse. So if you liked Gorgous, get this , but if you didnt like how they changed their sound, this is more of the same so steer clear.

5.0 out of 5 stars NOT Guttermouth's sell-out album, January 14, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Covered With Ants (Audio CD)
First of all, this Guttermouth CD is NOT pop-punk. "She's Got the Look" could be described as pop-punk, but it is no way near as bad as Blink-182 - at least it's funny, unlike Blink-182's songs.
Also, Guttermouth are not selling out with "Covered With Ants". It'll still be a couple more albums til they do so, as they have kept up their reputation for funny music with "I'm Destroying the World" and "Chug-a-lug Night".
This CD has three of Guttermouth's best songs ever - the first three songs. "That's Life", which just sounds cool, and "Can I Borrow Some Ambition?" and "Secure Horizons", which are really fast, though the lyrics could be better.
If you're new to Guttermouth, get "Musical Monkey" or "Teri Yakimoto" first, then get this. Not what Guttermouth fans expected, but really good.
