Hello from Voyager Middle School! I'm not sure if you'll even remember me, but my name is Michael Clark, and I am the band and orchestra director at Voyager. Your daughter Chelsey was one of my very first students when I started my teaching career. I'm on year eight and still loving every second of it! Arley, at the end of that first year, you gave me a copy of "A Cow! And Other Poems," and that book to this day remains on my bookshelf next to my computer. After I read your book, I decided I needed to know more about Autism, so that I could better serve the kids who come through my doors. I have taken several classes on autism and Asbergers, and I have taught several students in these past eight years who see the world through these eyes, and I have learned as much from them as I have taught them... I just wanted to say thank you (even if it is eight years too late!). Thank you for reaching out to a teacher who was just starting out, and thank you for an advocate for your son and all kids with autism. You are an awesome family, and I wish you guys all the best!
