This is an excellent soundtrack featuring Yoko Kanno and The Seatbelts. It contains a wide variety of musical styles (rock, pop ballads, acoustic slide guitar blues, harmonica blues, modern jazz, ambient, etc.) and in a way, served as an additional character which contributed a significant amount to the success of the series. I think that ample proof of that is that the soundtrack (outside of the dialogue tracks) stands on its own and is just as appealing and pleasurable to listen to for someone who is totally unfamiliar with Cowboy Bebop. For fans, it's guaranteed to bring back vivid images of their favorite characters and episodes.

This limited edition 4-CD set contains all 96 tracks that appeared in the 5-CD set. Each disc is nested in its own tray which is housed in a digipak cover which opens like a book with 2 discs on each side. The discs are imprinted with color images of Spike, Jet, Faye and Ed. The set also contains a booklet with lyrics in both English and Japanese.

Do you like Cowboy Bebop? If you do there's no way you wouldn't like this collection. Every weird little jingle, slide riff, or harmonica jam that you heard in the series and got stuck in your head is on this collection. The different versions of "TANK!" alone are worth it. The Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts made some amazing music for the series and it's mixed with Japanese pop-culture and style.

This is an excellent CD soundtrack box set. But the reason for four instead of five stars...the talking. They put in small snippets of characters talking between tracks (I assume from the series itself). I would say if you can find the box set, get it, download to your computer and take off the dialogue. Then you will have a five star soundtrack box set. Either way, definately worth getting.
