5.0 out of 5 stars Can a horror story in space get any better?, February 28, 2000

This review is from: Cowboy Bebop - Toys in the Attic (Vol. 6) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
With this tape Cowboy Bebop gets 100% back on track. Although all the previous episodes were excellent themselves, 'Toys in the Attic' is far too frightening, mysterious and funny to compare to the recent episodes. Inside the Bebop deep in space is an odd presence that is attacking the crew and rendering them helpless and unconscious. Soon, Spike is left alone to save the crew and KILL THE MONSTER. Calling back to films like 'The Thing', 'Alien' and '2001 A Space Odyssey', it's an episode so full of suspense you'd think it was live action Hollywood movie material. Even the end will keep you laughing as the director fools you through his haunted house episode of 'Bebop'. Ed is great as usual. The second episode is the first of two concerning Vicious and Spike called 'Jupiter Jazz' which I will hold review on until I see the conclusion in the next tape. Needless to say, tho, it is a great episode even without an ending. This is a series beyond its time, and every episode seems to get better then the last. Why are we Otaku the only ones watching this series?

After watching the first story, I immdiately went to my fridge and began checking expiration dates! A hilarious episode with some real intense suspense scenes. The second episode is also very enjoyable as well and shows off Spike's fighting skills well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Please watch this tape! I'll be your best friend..., August 5, 2000

After seeing Episode 11, I really had the urge to go clean out my fridge. Gross. Watching Spike light his cigarette with a flame thrower (classic action-movie gag) but then incinerating it down to the filter made me burst out laughing. That's all I'm going to say because our previous reviewers have done a bang-up job covering the important parts. Episode 12 really pushed the envelope of this series. The return of Viscious (come on, who didn't see it coming?) was very well handled as were the social ramifications of building a colony that's only populated by men. The cliff-hanger ending made my skin crawl a bit. Think "Crying Game."
