5.0 out of 5 stars Can a horror story in space get any better?, February 28, 2000

With this tape Cowboy Bebop gets 100% back on track. Although all the previous episodes were excellent themselves, 'Toys in the Attic' is far too frightening, mysterious and funny to compare to the recent episodes. Inside the Bebop deep in space is an odd presence that is attacking the crew and rendering them helpless and unconscious. Soon, Spike is left alone to save the crew and KILL THE MONSTER. Calling back to films like 'The Thing', 'Alien' and '2001 A Space Odyssey', it's an episode so full of suspense you'd think it was live action Hollywood movie material. Even the end will keep you laughing as the director fools you through his haunted house episode of 'Bebop'. Ed is great as usual. The second episode is the first of two concerning Vicious and Spike called 'Jupiter Jazz' which I will hold review on until I see the conclusion in the next tape. Needless to say, tho, it is a great episode even without an ending. This is a series beyond its time, and every episode seems to get better then the last. Why are we Otaku the only ones watching this series?

After watching the first story, I immdiately went to my fridge and began checking expiration dates! A hilarious episode with some real intense suspense scenes. The second episode is also very enjoyable as well and shows off Spike's fighting skills well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Please watch this tape! I'll be your best friend..., August 5, 2000

After seeing Episode 11, I really had the urge to go clean out my fridge. Gross. Watching Spike light his cigarette with a flame thrower (classic action-movie gag) but then incinerating it down to the filter made me burst out laughing. That's all I'm going to say because our previous reviewers have done a bang-up job covering the important parts. Episode 12 really pushed the envelope of this series. The return of Viscious (come on, who didn't see it coming?) was very well handled as were the social ramifications of building a colony that's only populated by men. The cliff-hanger ending made my skin crawl a bit. Think "Crying Game."

4.0 out of 5 stars Sunrise goodness!, April 15, 2000
By
Hot off the heels of watching a batch of episodes from another, older Sunrise animated show, the excellent "Armored Trooper Votoms," we now have volume 6 of Cowboy Bebop.

For a while now, the show has been giving us many adventures for our crew, but one thing that it has been lacking is depth of plotting.

This volume finally pulls together most of the show's virtues and delivers a nearly five-star show.

First up is episode 11, one truly unique and amusing episode that ranks as my favourite "quirky" Cowboy Bebop episode. The suspense is slowly built up as an alien on board the ship is systematically taking out most of the crew, and the ending is a wacky hoot. Ed is great again.

Next is episode 12, "Jupiter Jazz--Part I". This is probably the most serious and intense episode yet, with Spike looking for Julia in a cold planet only to run into Vicious again, and Faye truly hitting a low spot in her life. It's much more grim in many respects, and the characters here are probably at their ugliest, as many of their character flaws are exhibited to their fullest extent.

The show is coming along as one of my favourite "new" shows in a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its great, but do they have to have nudity?, August 15, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Cowboy Bebop - Toys in the Attic (Vol. 6) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Im kinda happy and dissapointed with this tape. Im happy because now Cowboy Bebop got back on track. Im dissapointed because they've finally shown Faye nude (Remember the cover of Vol. 2?). If you can ignore the nudity however, this is a great tape showing just how serious and funny this show can be. There is also a lot of tips of the hat to films like Aliens, 2001 and Crying Game. Not to mention an appearence by Vicious. If Vicious is in this volume, then you know its gonna be as cool as Volume 3. So is this worth the buy? Yes, but try to ignore the nudity in it though.
