Cowboy Bebop Mini-Album: Vitaminless,
By "catsonmars" (Arcadia, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cowboy Bebop Vitaminless (Audio CD)
1. The Real Folk Blues -- Ending theme to "COWBOY BEBOP." An absolutely phenomenally depressing but wonderful song, voiced by Mai Yamane (whose voice has graced such other works of Yoko Kanno's as MACROSS PLUS and Vision of Escaflowne).2. Odd Ones -- A jazzy BGM, very cool. ;) 3. Doggy Dog -- A bizarre and hilarious, but also very fun, percussive piece. 4. Cats on Mars -- The übercute theme of Ed, this is my own personal anthem! ^_- Voiced by Gabriela Robin, who seems to grace every work Yoko Kanno touches... hmmm... 5. Spy -- A chic psuedo-spy BGM. ;) 6. Fantaisie Sign -- A rather etherial technoish piece voiced and lyricised in French by Carla Vallet. 7. Piano Bar I -- A snazzy bit of piano jazz BGM. 8. Black Coffee (Hidden Track) -- A zany jazz piece featuring some interesting voiceovers. ;) "Won't you please have some coffee with me?" "Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnno!" All in all, an absolutely excellent addition to any musical library. I highly reccomend all the Cowboy Bebop soundtracks: COWBOY BEBOP (OST I), NO DISC (OST II), Vitaminless (Mini-Album), BLUE (OST III), and Music For Freelance (Remix Album). As I said, I can't get enough of any of the music from Bebop. Yoko Kanno is an absolutely incredible composer and I highly reccomend any work of hers to any fan of music anywhere. ;) ~Chiriko (chiriko@catsonmars.com)

Although the soundtrack series for "Cowboy Bebop" is nothing short of an awesome listening experience, I have to wonder about this one. It's an EP length album with only six songs, only three of which are exclusive to this CD. You do get the original version of the closing theme ("The Real Folk Blues"), as well as the cute drum-laden clap-along tune, "Doggy Dog", and the short James-Bond-esque "The Spy" by Seat Belts (Yoko Kanno's bebop band), but the other songs are also on the other soundtracks. It's a good listen, but I'd only recommend it if you feel you must own every Cowboy Bebop OST.

One of my best CDs,

Oh my gosh, I love this CD. It gives a great variety of jazz, blues, and other associated music. I bought this soundtrack over the others because all I wanted was the series' end theme, but now I'm looking towards the others because this is such a good collection. I recomend this to r&b lovers or those who like the series (and who doesn't). Some may not like tracks "cats on mars" or "Fantaisie Sign". At the very least these will probably have to grow on you. Your appreciation for some of these songs might grow on you too if you can find some translations.

Being a HUGE:) fan of Cowboy Bebop I had to get this. I absolutely love the Real Folk Blues so that was the main reason. If you like Bebop (GO ED!) I reccomend this and No Disc which has the phenomanally awesome but SPOOKY song Green Bird, the one that's played when spike is falling after being shot by vicious In episode 5

This was a cute little album, but not really worth owning except for the few unreleased songs on it. I have it only because of that reason, I collect Yoko Kanno albums.
"Doggy Dog" is really cute and I would listen to it on a mix of background music. "Spy" is the typical spy song, but in Yoko style.

$26.99 for seven songs? I like every Cowboy Bebop album, but you can find this one with the remix "music for freelance" songs all on one album, at other places. This is a great record, still, I can't rate it as high as the double album featuring the same songs plus a lot more. Several Cowboy Bebop soundtracks, in fact, are listed at other websites for a lot less than Amazon is selling them.Although the OST did not feature the end theme of the series, Vitaminless does ("The Real Folk Blues").

When I got the first OST for free with my Bebop DVD boxed set, I just about soiled myself in joy. The soundtrack for this series is consistently superb, complementing the show perfectly yet standing on its own as an incredible and versatile selection of tracks. The great thing about the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack is that you don't need to have seen the series to enjoy it. I own every single one of the soundtrack CDs (though some of them were a bother to track down) and do not regret any of my purchases. You really can't go wrong with Bebop. That being said... Why, oh why was The Real Folk Blues not on the first OST? There is no good god damned reason to have the opening and closing themes on different discs!
