Tyler Beard is a native Texan, so, naturally, grew up in a boots-and-hat environment. At age three, he received his first pair of red-and-green Christmas boots, a gift from his parents—“the pair that started it all.” Tyler and his wife, Teresa, are considered the foremost experts on AmericanWest style. Tyler is the author of Lone Star Living: Texas Homes and Ranches (2003).
JimArndt is a nationally recognized advertising and editorial photographer. He maintains studios in Santa Fe and Minneapolis and shoots for clients such as Wrangler, Chevrolet, and Harley-Davidson. His personal work has also been exhibited in galleries in Santa Fe, Taos, and Austin. He continues to travel the West, working on his personal photos and collecting cowboy boots.
As the world’s leading authorities on the cowboy boot, Tyler and Jim have collaborated on The Cowboy Boot Book (1992), 100 Years of WesternWear (1993), and Art of the Boot (1999).
About the Author
Tyler Beard is the foremost expert on cowboy boots. He is the author of Art of the Boot, The Cowboy Boot Book, and 100 Years of Western Wear. He lives on a ranch with his wife, and together they run True West Design.
Jim Arndt is the author of How to Be a Cowboy and coauthor with Mary Emmerling of Art of the Cross, Art of Turquoise, Art of the Skull and Art of the Heart. He coauthored several Cowboy Boot books. He lives in Santa Fe.
