Great Story,

Fantasy Ranch where there are only 2 simple rules to follow. Rule 1 - No Sex Rule 2 - No contact or attempted contact after the week is up For Rebecca Ryder the rules for Fantasy Ranch seem simple enough. A year after her husband Todd's sudden death Rebecca is attempting to get back out and date. Before she is ready to date again Rebecca wants to live out the fantasy that her late husband had promised. They'd had a great sex life that had included lots of role playing and on that last day he had promised to be her cowboy. Rebecca knows in her heart that she'll never ever find anyone that would fill the void or spark the kind of passion that her late husband did. So Rebecca signs up for a week at Fantasy Ranch where she can live out the fantasy about cowboys, who'll say and do all the right things without having to worry about sex and in the process say goodbye. Plus her heart would remain safe. So why does Rebecca feel this instant attraction to her assigned cowboy Gavin Carter? Why is she craving sex with someone other then herself? And why is it when she's in his arms it feels like she is meant to be there and that this isn't fantasy but real? For Gavin Carter who is part owner of Fantasy Ranch with his brother Garrett this is the perfect job for him. He makes a great living doing what every man would love to do while still being able to have his needs met elsewhere whenever he wants without any hassles of a relationship. Gavin has been through a painful relationship that has made him leery to ever attempt another one. He is happy with the way things are. So why is he constantly thinking of Rebecca and breaking all the Fantasy Ranch rules? Why can't he play the game he normally does with everyone else? Get ready for this sexually tensed filled ride between Rebecca and Gavin. Both have experienced heartbreak from previous relationships that makes them question their feelings. Both are fighting what they feel for one another and find that they can't keep their actions from being impersonal. They push the boundaries on the rules of Fantasy Ranch. I found myself enjoying Cowboy Games more then I anticipated. The characters were developed nicely. I understood why they both were hesitant with one another emotionally. The storyline moved along smoothly. The sexual chemistry between Gavin and Rebecca was practically oozing off the pages. I was captivated from the beginning until the end. I found myself falling for Gavin's charisma, wit, and sexiness right along with Rebecca. Gavin was sex on a stick. Rebecca was humorous and bold. The flirtatious banter between the two kept me turning the pages. The second storyline kept me on my toes cringing and scared for the danger that Gavin and Rebecca could face if they were caught not following the rules. There are some definite secondary characters that caught my eye and I'm hoping we'll get a story about Garret and another cowboy at the ranch. The bad guy in this story was a complete jerk and I really wish he'd been punished more ..lol! The only time I did skim the pages were when the main characters would misunderstand each other over mundane things that I felt could have been resolved easily. Overall though I enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it. It was fun, sexy, and entertaining read.

A hot cowboy fantasy,
By Jami Davenport (Olympia, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cowboy Games (Paperback)
I, for one, loved Cowboy Games, because let's face it, who doesn't love a sexy cowboy, and Gavin Carter is one of the sexiest. He also operates Fantasy Ranch, every female's idea of a dream vacation. For seven days, the guests at Fantasy Ranch are treated like royalty by their gorgeous cowboy. Of course, there's a catch--two small rules that are not negotiable:
No sex. No contact or attempted contact after the week is up. Rebecca Ryder lost her husband a year ago and is still mourning his death. Their parting words on that fateful day involved a cowboy fantasy they'd enact when he came home from work that night, unfortunately, he never came home. Now Rebecca is ready to live that fantasy in the protected atmosphere of Fantasy Ranch. One big problem: Rebecca and Gavin never considered that their fantasy might turn to reality, causing them to break every rule imposed by the ranch and by their own hearts. Cowboy Games is a delightful tale of two lovable characters who are desperately trying to deny their attraction for each other. Wendi weaves a story full of sexual tension, heightened by the fact that the characters keep avoiding the inevitable. She takes you right to the edge of your seat then keeps you wanting more. As a final twist, the ranch is being investigated by the authorities with the hope of getting enough dirt to close it down. Pick up your own copy of Cowboy Games. You'll enjoy every minute of it.

OMG!!! Totally hot story, I absolutely loved this book, I read it in one day, couldn't put it down. Who doesn't love a cowboy?? You could just feel the sexual anticipation between these two, I couldn't wait for them to kiss, and what a kiss it was! I love erotic romances with great sex and great story, this had both! I wish fantasy ranches actually existed with these hot cowboys, WOW. This is a book I'd read more than once, it's a keeper for sure.

Memorable Characters, Entertaining Read,
By
This review is from: Cowboy Games (Paperback)
I don't read much erotica, so I'm certainly no expert on the genre. But as someone who loves to read, I feel comfortable recommending any adult book that leaves me contemplating the characters long after I've finished the last page. In the case of Cowboy Games, I suspect I'll be thinking of Gavin Carter and Rebecca Ryder for quite some time.
For my taste, a novel seems lacking, regardless of the genre, if it doesn't contain some elements of love, or at least the hope for love. In this, Cowboy Games does not disappoint. With the perfect blend of romance and erotica, the story follows two likeable, complex characters that have a raging, but forbidden, passion for each other. Their desires go beyond the physical, however, (though there's plenty of lust between them.) Both long for love, yet are equally terrified by it. Gavin Carter is a handsome, sexy cowboy, but he is also intelligent and honest, and has a rugged, yet tender, side that makes him the kind of man any woman would like to know better--and not just in the bedroom. Though he has personal issues he's struggling with, they do not get in the way of his ability to be true to himself, his goals, or his friends. You cannot help but root for him to get the girl, but you're never really sure if he will. There are rules that cannot be broken, or can they? Rebecca Ryder is the female protagonist, and Gavin's love interest. She, too, has emotional issues--which is why she decides to vacation at a ranch full of untouchable cowboys. The story is primarily from her point of view, though we do get into the other characters' heads from time to time, but I'll admit there were times I wanted to slap her silly and tell her to snap out of it--(good grief, woman...grab this guy!) Regardless, Rebecca is a likeable gal, and her banter with Gavin is feisty and oftentimes humorous. One can certainly see why Gavin would be attracted to her, even at the risk of his business and his reputation. Cowboy Games is well-written and fast-paced, and will ultimately leave you satisfied (story-wise, that is.) I enjoyed the read, and would highly recommend it to anyone who likes interesting characters, romance peppered with erotica, and a storyline that will hold your attention until the very end.

Purchased: Bought on Amazon What I Loved: Both main character in this book: Gavin and Rebecca! Rebecca had so many qualities, fears, feelings, and actions that I believe many women have. She was in a time of transition and her story was just so well told. Gavin read like a real guy, that you could meet, fall in love with, and yes fantasize about when you aren't around him. I like that he had issues he had to work through too. It kind made the balance between them good to read. Oh and the story was chalk full of plenty of hot steamy scenes that make you warm all over! What I Liked: I really liked the subplot in the story. I think it showed that no matter where you are in life, if you want to change you can. I also liked Garrett--he was a little overprotective but that is how a brother is supposed to be :) Complaints: I really had none! Why I gave it a 4: This is probably going down as one of my favorite erotic reads ever. I really liked all the elements: the story, the pacing, the intimate scenes. The delivered with everything they were supposed too. The was very close to a 5 rating for me :) Who I would recommend it too: Romance readers that can handle alot of steam. Any erotic romance readers that really embrace a good story when they see it! Authors Website:[...]

Very disappointed in this book,

This review is from: Cowboy Games (Siren Publishing Classic) (Kindle Edition)
I read the reviews above before buying this book and it sounded great. I was very disappointed in it. The plot dragged and the characters did things that made no sense to me. Rebecca and Gavin repeated teased each other and backed off, intentionally sabotaging themselves. I just wanted to tell her to go home and grow up, and him to learn a little self discipline. The vacation was only for a week for crying out loud. I had to force myself to finish this book, but it was very unsatisfying.
Additionally I thought the book was poorly edited, both in terms of plot development and in writing structure. The publisher needs to improve the quality of their editing.

Every Woman on the Map Will Want to Play Cowboy Games,
By Chasity Carter "Chasity Carter" (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cowboy Games (Paperback)
What a great book. Cowboy Games is just plain fun. I debated on a four or five star rating but couldn't give it a five because there was a sense of wanting more, just a tad more here, a little more there, that kind of thing. Darlin still hit her bulls-eye with a book a good girl can read when she wants to buy an erotic novel. It doesn't leave readers with a sense of "I can't believe that happened" or "talk about raunchy" but instead, readers feel the romance and the sexual tension is well written. Wendi Darlin has a new book out and if it's as good as the first one, then readers should get their money's worth. Nice job, Wendi.

I Am So Glad I Got This Book!,

I am so glad I went ahead and bought this book. If I read a contemporary romance, I usually want it to be believable. I almost didn't buy this book because I thought the whole fantasy ranch theme seemed so corny. But it wasn't.....it actually seemed very real and believable. I also thought what kind of woman needs to go to one of these places. How can I like the main character Rebecca? But I soon saw this place was perfect for her. Her husband had died 1 year before, and this was her way of trying to get back into the dating scene. She wanted to have a sort of test run first, and a cowboy as well!
Gavin and his brother own and run the fantasy ranch. Women pay to stay at this ranch for a week and they get their own personal cowboy to spoil them. The cowboys tell the women exactly what they want to hear, they boost up their confidence, they are even a shoulder to cry on. There are only 2 rules they abide by: No sex, and no contact after the week is up. Usually the no sex part is easy for Gavin, after all, most of the women that come through are older, or desperate, or have some kind of emotional problem. He isn't even looking for a relationship, he still has a hard time trusting after his divorce. He also knows that the business must come first if the ranch is to survive and get back on its feet. And with the authorities investigating the ranch and wanting to shut it down, the no sex rule is something he cannot break with Rebecca. But those 2 rules are more than Gavin can take, because the first minute he lays eyes on Rebecca he is smitten. They have an instant attraction the moment they meet. And Gavin realizes this week is going to be the hardest week of his life. He soon realizes that he can't pretend with Rebecca. Everything he says to her is real, and everything he does with her at the ranch is different than he normally does with the women. I loved watching the sexual tension and struggle. Gavin had lot on the line to risk if he broke his rules. He didn't want to lose the ranch or let his brother down. But he also knew she was only staying a week and did not want to lose his chance with her. Gavin seemed so genuine and down to earth, I loved the way he treated her. And I loved watching Rebecca try to open her heart and love again. This book is a must read and is now one of my favorites! |
