upbeat contemporary romance, July 15, 2006
This review is from: Cowboy M.D. (Harlequin American Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Dr. Nicholas Shepard was one of the best burn specialists in the country. However, when he failed to save nine years old Robby Martin, he internalized the loss. Soon he lost more than just his interest in his work as he doubts his skills; he gave up at life and is hiding at the Diamond W Ranch in California.
Alison Forester needs Nicholas' skills so she offers him a position as the burn specialist at her hospital. He wants her to leave him alone, but the obstinate woman refuses as she once vowed when a doctor just like him saved her life to pay back the debt. She nags him until she forces him to start a fight. The feisty fiery Alison hopes that when her beloved regains his inner strength, he will turn to her not with gratitude but with love.
COWBOY M.D. is an upbeat contemporary romance starring a broken hero who has lost faith in his talent and a "born again" crusader who refuses to accept his quitting when she knows the world needs him. Fans will enjoy the verbal battles between Nick and "Ali-cat" as she rejects his insistence that no means no even as they fall in love, encouraged by his mom. This is a poignant tale that showcases how doctors feel when they lose a patient even though they did everything right (no negligence in this case).
