4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, But Quite A Departure From Cowboy Songs 3, January 15, 2000
By

This review is from: Cowboy Songs Four (Audio CD)
This album has a very different sound from his other Cowboy Songs Series. Not that it is bad but be prepared for a more "pop" sound on some of the songs, especially "Born To Buck Bad Luck" which is not really a true MMM cowboy song. I really think this album is good never the less. "Born To Be A Cowboy" is a classic while "Utah Carroll" is true to the traditional sound. "The Bunkhouse Orchestra" is a "square dance" type song that reminises "The Cowboy Christmas Ball" from his "Cowboy Christmas Album". I highly recommend this along with his even better album, "Cowboy Songs 3".

4.0 out of 5 stars The best song on this album is Born To Be a Cowboy, song #3, July 9, 1999

This review is from: Cowboy Songs Four (Audio CD)
The best song on this album is song #3, Born To Be a Cowboy! (but, it's not on your song list) It was written by a true working cowboy and fellow NM singing buddy of Michael's, R.W. Hampton. It's great traveling music, dance music, and it sums up how most of us cowboys feel when we think of all those good memories. Michael has come along way from his rock and folk roots, it seems he understands a cowboy's heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old favorites and dynamic new material, July 10, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Cowboy Songs Four (Audio CD)
New, catchy tune: "Born to Buck Bad Luck" will soon be released as a country video. The selections on this release include tradtional cowboy songs and new material written by Michael Martin Murphey. "The Nighthawk" is a beautiful poem set to music. Often requested, "Little Joe the Wranger" is included on this dynamite new release. A must for MMM fans; great selection for cowboy song buffs; a real find for country music enthusiasts.
