This is a very powerful LED light. I use this if I absolutely have to for wedding receptions. You don't want to use this light for the bride and groom's first dance on a dimly lit floor, as it will absolutely kill the mood of the event. It does have a dimmer and some diffusion, which are both needed. Without any diffusion and lights on full power, you can forget about your subject ever seeing again. I'm thinking about different ways to use this light for a hair light or a fill in certain interview settings. I love the fact that you can use so many different battery types. I use the Sony NP-F970 for extra length, however, it makes my camera (Sony Z1U) very heavy for any handheld shots. Good purchase for me.

This camcorder light which is what I am using it for is just the right size for my camera, the gels that came with it are defused 1/4 amber and 1/4 rose, with the light at full the gels are of little use, I have not been able to contact the manufacture to purchase additional gels, so I wrap gel around it when I need to use the light on high. This makes it look tacky, I use it for fill outside and inside with mixed light, for the price it works, I did not receive a hot shoe in the box, so if you need one this may be an issue

Nice and bright, i upgraded from sony tiny light to this one and happy because its cheap, you can also use it on different tripod and location to be more creative, using it on rechargeable AA batteries, nice filter i use yellow one more frequently, i recomend this to anyone for video light or fill in light because it does has light control switch aswel. you can look at my video review at [...]

The quality of light is great and the ability to dim your light was a major benefit and probably the main reason why I bought it. However, the cold shoe mount already started getting loose on the first day. There are 4 tiny screws that hold the base of the mount to the light and they look cheaply made. By the day 3, one screw fell off and by day 4, the whole mount fell apart. I'm still using the light, but with the mount super glued to the bottom. Hopefully this will last until I get a more solid unit. If you are going to use this for run 'n gun interviews or concerts like me... it'll be more wise to invest in something a bit more heavy duty.

The light seems to be fine. I needed the hot shoe stand as shown in the item list, but it is missing. Not too happy about it. Given that the others haven't received it either, it is almost like cheating the customers.

The light itself worked fine, but it came with no instructions or list of batteries that can be used with it. The box just had pictures and no list or names of types of the batteries, I had to search the internet for compatable batteries. The Base is thin plastic that will crack if abused so treat gently. The yellow filter is too yellow, going to 2500 degrees instead of 3200, but is close enough and much better than having nothing. I used a NPF550 battery that fits very snug and is hard to put on, a smaller battery would be better. If you take care of your gear it is great for the price.

I like this thing; it's not heavy, has a rheostat built in for adjusting light output, and lit my high def Canon 60D videos very nicely from up to 20 feet away or so. The led lights are cooler than any other type, which is good, and the power lasts for a good while. Negatives would be the 'cheesy' holder and thin lenses that break fairly easily (yeah, I know because one broke) if you simply hold the light wrong they will slide out of their own accord. I don't know how long it will last, but it appears relatively well made, and has held up for a few uses to date. It's bigger/bulkier than I expected, but finds a place in my Canon backpak bag anyhow.

The CowboyStudio CN-126 and and 160 models have the same body as the Neewer brand, but the filters with the CowboyStudio 126 are thinner and don't have a detent in them to keep them in the holder. Should you happen to turn it upside down the filter will fall out. If you're going to get one of these lights (and they work great) I would suggest the Neewer brand over this one. One minor drawback to both models is the variable light knob. In my opinion they're mounted upside down. When I roll the knob up, I would expect the lighting to go up. Roll knob up - light dims, roll down - light brightens. Just seems backwards to me. Other than that the LED lighting unit is a great idea, and when grouped with cheap stands is great for fast setup and great lighting. I got two Neewer CN-160's for almost the same price as this one and the Neewers are better.

LED light for cheap???? Nice! I have it for a while and expected some of the led's to fade or burn but going strong. Will buy again in the future.

The light quality and power is really awesome. You will break off the mount within days of using it though. About as cheap of plastic as you could possible find.
