Photo is wrong. The stand only has one section, not two. Other than that, if you need a short light stand this one will do.

This is a small, light weight and economical light stand especially for being used as a back light. This is a great product at a good price point especially for someone like me whose not earning his living out of photography.
The typical use-case would be to mount a flash on it pointing towards the background. As such, it gives the halo effect so common in portrait photography.
The stand open up to a maximum height of only 3 feet and the opening-closing mechanism could be smoother. The top has a standard tripod thread so a flash bracket (for instance the ePhoto C Bracket Deluxe Adjustable Hot Shoe Flash Mounting Bracket with Swivel Umbrella Mount for most Speedlights and Camera Flashes) can easily be attached. Similarly, if you have a wireless flash trigger (For instance the : CowboyStudio NPT-04 4 Channel Wireless Trigger for External Speelights with 1 Trigger and 2 Receivers (NPT-04+extra receiver)), the base has a standard screw which can attach on top of this stand. Summary: The overall build quality looks good and at this price point it's definitely a steal.

It's a small, portable, back light stand. It's durable, light, and is easy to setup. In short, It gets the job done.

I was looking for a stand that would let me get really low. I do a lot with babies and children. The product descriptions says the minimum height was 16 inches. I was disappointed to see that the lowest I can actually get is 29 inches. That's a BIG difference.

As far as the stand quality goes, it's about what I expected. It's stiff, but otherwise it's fine.

Just be aware that the measurements are not accurate.

Using it for a background flash unit. It's a little stiff to open the legs the first few times, but it's getting easier each time I open it. Good materials, solid support. Well worth the price.

I just ordered and recieved two of these units. One was the two section and one was the three section. The quality is good for the intended purpose, a small, portable light stand to light adjoining rooms while shooting Real Estate Photography. I mount a YN560II with a 6" white plastic diffuser, swivel flash adapter on each stand and can fire them with radio or optical triggers, placing them out of sight behind couches or in the adjoining darker room. They go low enought and high enough to work in most situations. The two section unit was a bit hard to open but all it takes is a screwdriver to loosen the lock nuts on the joints and it opens very easy. Not a problem. I recomend these units highly.

The stand is will go as low as 16 inches. Like other reviewers have mentioned, it only have one extending section instead of two like the photo. The spigot is the standard style but it has no 1/4" tripod topper like many other stands. This means you need to use an umbrella holder with it to attach a flash (or use any other equipment that will attach to such a spigot). Build quality is so so. I would suggest not extending the extension past the min 16 inches as the small legs make the stand a bit unstable.
