It is a light metal, not too good, is very fragile. I used once and fell down breaking the dipstick. You can use in a safety place, where is not windy area.

This is a good product for the price. However, I would not use this outdoors with any type of wind.

What I've found that works the easiest: the zipper area that the light stand goes through, leave that completely unzipped. You can reach up through it to adjust the angle of the soft box. It won't angle straight downward, but it will go down until it hits the end of the zippered area.

26" but that is the minimum length. If you are packing if in a hard side bag, you will want a good 26.5 inches of space. I bought two of these & I never use them because they really don't allow that much tilt. An ideal condition would be to have an adjustable joint below the zippered opening, rather than inside. But if you are happy with sending your light almost straight on, they will be great. They are sturdy and we'll made.
