This review is from: CowboyStudio Photography 10 X 12ft Chromakey Green Muslin Backdrop with Support System and Carry Bag (Electronics)
Many people have commented that the quality of the support struts here are exceptional-and I'm curious if they received the same product as me?
I'm not a new users to chromakeying, and have owned several green & blue screens. I have been working with "sensitive" stage equipment for several years, my point is that it's not as if I wasn't taking care of this product. So when I say that this set is delicate, I mean it! I literally had this break on the first day of use. The first time I just set it up to get an idea of space I'd need to fully use the screen & light it properly, the fabric ripped! It wasn't a large rip, maybe 1/4 of an inch, but it's still a weakness in the fabric that i had to sew back together or risk it becoming larger. The second day I broke out the screen (I do several internet comedic skits a week, so it was the next day), one of the support struts BROKE IN HALF at a section which controlled the length at which the strut would be deployed. Seriously, all I did was lean it against a wall (half extended) so that I could measure how much room I'd need. There was very little pressure on the strut itself, but it snapped quite cleanly. I suppose I'm lucky no one else was in the room, they might have been hurt if it had hit them. Now, it wasn't the metal that snapped obviously, just a plastic lock, (which was still functional actually, it broke above the locking mechanism). I just use fast drying super glue and gaffers tape to "fix" it. I make a large source of my income from ad revenue stemming from these skits, so I pretty much had to make due and get the recording done. There's also the issue of the tripod base being unable to lock correctly. I was constantly adjusting the bases because they kept moving out of position, which would cause the screen to tilt to one end. Anyone who has ever chromakeyed before knows just how badly this can ruin a otherwise great key. I ended up using gaffers tape on these too. Also, it's a small thing, but the carrying bag that came with the product had a broken zipper. I don't move my studio around much, so that's not a problem for me, but I can see it being very annoying for others. What really annoys me is that I really enjoy buying products from Cowboy studios (the third party that ships these products) I've bought several lighting kits from them, and they're all very high quality with none of the structural weaknesses this green screen kit has. I've been a loyal costumer due to their low prices and (sans this kit) high quality products, but I think I'm going to be avoiding Cowboy studios from now on. Or maybe just stick to their lighting kits. My suggestion to anyone reading this who wants to get a green screen-If you really want one and don't need it to be portable, just buy the muslin fabric available on amazon for around $30, and rig your own support system, or alternatively, permanently secure it to your wall using a screws of nails or screws. It's much cheaper, and ultimately what I'm going to be doing with the fabric from this product. If you really *need* a portable solution, this might do the trick as long as you're exceedingly careful and carry around gaffers tape with the kit.

We've been using this green screen set up for almost a year and it has helped produce wonderful special-effect videos to date.
The tripod set up isn't the most solid of a base but completely fine as long as no one is crashing into them. After all, this is meant to be a portable set-up not a permanent one. As for that the included storage bag works great. I've made five trips from Chicago to Las Vegas and travel was fine with it. Hope this review helps...
