"Who Do You Love?" ~ "Watching A Wedding Is Like Watching A Sunrise, It's A New Beginning",
This review is from: Cowboys and Angels (DVD)
'Cowboys and Angels' is a sweet, tender love story about one man's search for the girl of his dreams. Danny (Adam Trese) has been left standing at the altar and begins to doubt if true love really exists. Unexpectedly two attractive women soon come into his life (Mia Kirshner and Radha Mitchell) and before long he must decide which woman is the one fated to become his wife. What he doesn't realize is that angelic forces are present and subtlely guiding him to make the right decision.
I love this movie! Mia Kirshner is absolutely gorgeous as Candice, she is fast becoming one of my favorite actresses. This is a film that can be enjoyed by everyone, old and young, so watch it with your entire family. Warning to Cowboy Movie Fans: If you're thinking of renting or buying this movie based solely on the presence of the word "cowboy" in the title, don't. It really has nothing whatsoever to do with being a cowboy. One of Danny's love interests happens to live and work on a ranch and you see a couple people ocassionally wearing cowboy hats, but that is the extent of it.

If you search for spiritual depth in romance...,
By Heather (Michigan, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cowboys and Angels (DVD)
Danny is a man who has 'done-been-wronged' and he is quickly loosing faith in love as he watches it fall farther and farther from his ideal in the relationships of the people around him. In steps a living angel who helps Danny to see love through different eyes, feel hope again, return him to his his ideals, and ultimately a real love relationship.
This movie is more than just an ordinary box office romance. Gregory Haynes gives us a sensitive pictoral expression of deeper spiritual love. This love is not limited to our earthly plane; it does not see with the eyes, hear with the ears, or speak from the mouth. It effects and transforms our lives on the higher planes of the knowing heart and soul. With dialogue such as "Sometimes it's not the things that you can see or touch that are real, sometimes it's what you feel in your heart that's most tangible." and "Ancient philosophers believe that there was a language that was spoken by angels and it couldn't be translated or repeated because it was only understood by the soul.", Gregory Haynes reminds us that our world is not as random as we might suppose. Life is perhaps ordered and aided by a power greater and more magnificent than our selves if we are only willing to release our fears and surrender our hearts and soul to Love. All of the actors do a lovely job expressing this story. I particularly liked the scene where Danny's sister, Dana, admits her loss of hope and Danny embraces her with unconditional love even though he does not agree with her choices. This is followed by a very beautiful series of "old home movie" images of Danny and Dana as children. Your heart wrenches with Danny's as you 'remember' Dana as an innocent, open, loving little girl knowing that as an adult she has chosen a hard path in love. Where, when, and how did she lose that purity of love of childhood? Where and when did we each lose it? The comic relief character is wonderful as well.

COWBOYS AND ANGELS-REVIEW # 2,

THIS IS MY SECOND REVIEW FOR THIS FILM, HOWEVER I'D LIKE TO BRING UP A FEW MORE IMPORTANT SUBJECTS.I FAILED TO MENTION THAT THIS FILM FEATURES MOSTLY A COUNTRY SCORE, HOWEVER THE MOVIE'S MAIN SONG IS A NEW AGE STYLE SONG. IT ADDS AN ENTIRELY NEW DIMENSION TO THE FILM, AS WELL AS PROVIDING THE AUDIENCE WITH "MUSIC TO THE EARS." THE SONG IS ENTITLED, "ANGELI MELLA BREZZA," PERFORMED BY SASHA LAZARD. I FELT I SHOULD MENTION IT BECAUSE IT'S AN IMPORTANT ELEMENT TO THE MOVIE. ALSO, THE DVD FEATURES ARE QUITE FEW: SCENE SELECTIONS,CAST FILMOGRAPHIES AND A MAKING OF FEATURETTE. THE REALISM OF THE POWER OF LOVE IS PRESENT IN THIS LITTLE

A must see movie,
By
This review is from: Cowboys and Angels (DVD)
The title isn't the best for this movie, its not about cowboys but a love story, great acting, great characters and the power of love makes the movie a hit. The two main characters crash weddings and look at the wedding through the eyes of completely unknown couples. While viewing the weddings they too fall in love. The rest is for you to view and find out about, I believe you will love this movie. Larry Hobson-Author-The Day Of The Rose"

A love story that is really about love,

This is a wonderful film, but can be confusing (Starting with the title- the sole thing wrong with this movie is the idiotic title). I have watched it many times and and find more all of the time. In some ways, this is like a Scandinavian movie: The plot is in fact very dense and close nit- absolutely every part ties together- BUT it is not spelled out for you like some sort of formulaic romantic comedy. Instead, much is suggested and you have to use your imagination to fill in the additional details. If the details had been spoon fed to you then the movie would have had to be four hours long: This is only acceptable if you are watching War and Peace.
So, I will give you a hint or two: At the beginning of the film Danny is the best man at his sister's wedding. He is heartbroken as he was himself just left at the altar by a woman he was deeply in love with. Danny has high ideals, is in fact a very good man and truly believes in true love, but the result has been hurt and despair. To God, this situation is NOT a disaster- It is an opportunity. Time to send in an angel or two....... Oh, and no this is NOt about how things are somehow specially arranged so as to keep Danny from becoming jaded. In fact he is in for some additional pain (literally) and heartache. One of the things Danny gets to learn is that he is NOT the center of the universe. But it turns out that this will also be okay. This film goes far deeper into exploring the ideas and nature of love than 99 percent of the love stories out there. And the three main actors [Radha Mitchell [who is fast becoming one of my favorites], Adam Trese and Mia Kirschner) were all absolutely perfect in their roles. I do not want to spoil your enjoyment or appreciation for this little gem. Rather, I want to suggest that you allow your imagination to work and help you enjoy the full story. If you do not participate in the story with your imagination then you will simply end up bewildered (as a least one of the reviewers on this site did- what a pity).

Heartfelt Romance With Great Performances,

A great romantic love story with a twist of "Touched By An Angel," Mia Kirshner and Radha Mitchell provide enticing and enduring performances that will keep me watching it over and over. I mostly wanted to write this to reiterate that this is a wonderful movie, undeserving of the pans it has received from other reviewers; and to recommend the movie to everyone--except "oaters," because it is not a western. Beyond that, I can only say that the original review is on the money.
Update--1 July 2008: If this review was not helpful to you, I would appreciate learning the reason(s) so I can improve my reviews. My goal is to provide help to potential buyers, not get into any arguments. So, if you only disagree with my opinion, could you please say so in the comments and not indicate that the review was not helpful. Thanks.

COWBOYS AND ANGELS A "MUST SEE",
By
This review is from: Cowboys and Angels (DVD)
My wife and I saw this movie when it debuted at the Sundance
Film Festival. We were so impressed with it that we took friends back to see it two different times. It is low keyed with an intriguing story. I would recommend it to anyone.

Wedding Crasher,
This review is from: Cowboys and Angels (DVD)
-With one look at the plot summary for this movie, one might be led to believe that this is some sappy story about a man deciding to be a cowboy after his bride leaves him, which is total bullplop. Yeah the movie is somewhat about that but that's a pretty small part of the larger picture. The story here is about a man that goes through some fire to finally find the woman of his dreams. It's a fantastic story told amazingly by writer/director Gregory Haynes. It's heartwarming and sweet without being overly sentimental and it has an amazing sense of humor. The line by the little black kid "you two are white" is just hilarious and one of the many great things about this movie.
-The main character in the movie pretty much has to deal with betrayal and heartbreak for most of the movie only to find out what everything was truly about in a "Touched by an Angel" manner. Great credit to Adam Trese for playing the character wonderfully. He's just a sweet guy that falls in love a little too easily. You really root for him and at the end when everything falls into play for him and his life seems to be on the rise. Trese plays the character with a naïve yet burnt style that makes him vulnerable. He's being screwed over by love before and not sure whether it's right to fall in love again. It sounds cheesy when I say it like that but he does a great job of it in the movie. -My favorite character in the movie is JoJo and Radha Mitchell plays her perfectly in the movie. She's loves going to weddings, but it's not something that she's obsessed with. It just makes her feel complete and is that one thing with her that makes her happy more than anything. She has a line in which she talks about how every time a shooting star falls it means that an angel has fallen from heaven to guide someone and that pretty much applies to her character. She's like the guiding light that leads Danny to find the love of his life which something that complicates their relationship. The very beautiful Mia Kirshner plays the other woman in Danny's life that ends up being the one. It's impossible to watch her in the movie without falling in love with her. Her soft voice and those eyes, it just makes me glad to be straight. She's amazing in the movie like every actor in the movie and I dare anyone not to be a huge fan of her after seeing her in this. -I don't know what DP Kramer Morgenthau did to the camera in this movie but he made the two leading ladies look spectacularly beautiful. I've seen Radha Mitchell and Mia Kirshner on the screen before and this is by far the best looking they've ever been. Especially Radha Mitchell, it's like the camera has a love affair with her or something. Unlike "Everything Put Together" which had some unflattering shots of her, she looks absolutely beautiful in this. I mean when she smiles it just makes your heart melt, just amazing. Equally achingly beautiful is Mia Kirshner who as one reviewer pointed was nice to see her not kissing another woman or taking her top off. She is stunning in the movie and I just love the way the camera accentuates her lovely eyes. It's like looking into the stars or something. Yes I know that was cheesy as hell but Morgenthau just makes the women look so lovely. He's currently working on "Feast of Love" and that features Radha Mitchell so I'm guessing he's going to bring his magic to that movie too. -The music in the movie is something to behold. The stuff that sounded like source music taken from country music was all right, but the real treat was the original score by Stephen Edwards. I've seen a lot of low budget flicks and this is by far the best low budget score I've ever heard. That little theme that he plays for Radha Mitchell's character is amazing. He first plays a variation of the theme when we first meet her, and later when on the steps of the church after the wedding vows sequence with JoJo and Danny we hear it in its full glory. The best rendition of it to me will always be the one he does for the dream sequence in the hospital when JoJo comes to visit the injured Danny. I just can't say enough good things about the amazing score to this and it's by far one of the movie's strongest quality. Stephen Edwards is on my radar now, and I look forward to hearing more from the amazing composer. The songs are great too and I hope there's an album release or something so I can hear it whenever I wanted. -In a world where romantic comedies are sappy and melodramatic, this one sticks out like two white people at a black wedding. I'm glad I'm saw it and hope to add it to my DVD collection soon. Kudos Gregory Haynes

If I could have given this movie a minus star I would have. We never did get the story line. We kept waiting for something redeeming about it but it never came. Truly not worth your time or money.
