At Home on the Raunch,
By
This review is from: Cowboys: Gay Erotic Tales (Paperback)
From the 1860's to present day, Cowboys covers a wide variety of western themed men and their sexual doins' You'll like these guys, everyone from an Hawaiian cowboy to a graphics designer is vibrant and no two stories are even remotely similar save many of them take place in the West. A strength of this book is that it introduces men discovering their sexuality in a time when what they want to do just isn't, publicly, acknowledged. A sheriff, a country doctor, a drifter all come to terms with what they want and, always, get it. There is a sentimental undercurrent to many of these men: The loneliness of isolation makes them as interested in the "buddy" aspect of being with another man as the sex. You want to pull up a chair, sit by a pot bellied stove and get acquainted. You'll like the guy next to you and pull for his happiness and sexual fulfillment. And, yes, the sex is great. The various authors approach to sex is a function of the story and not the focus. It's the guys in the ten gallon hats and their hankering after the bartender or a new drifter freshly come to herd cattle and the owner of same.
Spend a few pleasant hours meetin' some new folks. You'll like what you read.

A mixed bag,

This review is from: Cowboys: Gay Erotic Tales (Paperback)
Cowboys is a very mixed collection of short stories, mixed in time period, location, and quality. The collection starts very promisingly with a touching tale about a young doctor and the local sheriff; and a further titillating story about a precocious young cowboy and his eventual success in breaking in his boss certainly hits the mark. The remaining stories really fail to make an impression, with some typifying what soon becomes ineffective in erotica: long drawn out passages of clichéd grunts and groans, with little in the way of a story let alone anything imaginative.
I thoroughly enjoyed the better stories in the collection, I found some interesting but not remarkable, was unmoved by others, and gay up on the very worst.

As with all collections you get the good with the bad and this book is no exception. There are some very good stories, some fair stories and some I had to skip all together.

Cowboys,
This review is from: Cowboys: Gay Erotic Tales (Paperback)
Terrell knows that a ringing phone in the middle of the night is never good news, and it had better be some sort of emergency or he's likely to kill the person on the other side of the line. However, when the caller turns out to be his buddy Darrell, who is blowing through town for a couple of hours...well, Terrell knows a good thing when he hears it and he is not going to pass this chance up. Who knows when Darrell will blow through town again?
Burning Daylight is a sexy, raunchy story about men who find their own version of love when and where they can. Terrell and Darrell couldn't be more different if they tried - until they hit the sheets that is and then...watch out for the explosions! Burning Daylight is a hot read for a time when you want something quick that will turn up the heat! Sabella Dumped and feeling a fool for falling for a fellow rider who obviously didn't care about him, professional bullrider Tyler `Ty' Anderson needs to get his head back on straight in order to continue his winning streak. With the support of veteran rider Andy West, Ty may be on the road to something much more special than winning the championship. Mind in the Middle is a nice and quick read. I swear I read this story somewhere before, and it was just as good the second time around. Tyler and Andy are hot and very sweet together. Mind in the Middle is a fun read that'll leave its readers smiling. Ley Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

There are some good stories here, especially the sheriff and the doctor, but some odd ones as well. The good ones are worth it.
