Book Description

Silhouette Special Edition June 1, 2009

Landon Cartwright was a hero in Maggie Stevens's eyes. The roving cowboy showed up just in time to rescue the Crescent Moon owner from the men trying to steal her land. But the longer the sexy-as-sin loner stayed--working her ranch and bonding with her daughter--the more Maggie knew she was setting herself up for heartbreak....

Haunted by tragedy, Landon Cartwright came to Destiny looking for a job. He didn't expect to play rescuer, then fall for his alluring new boss and her daughter. He'd board his horse, earn his pay, and hit the road again. Because Maggie was a forever kind of woman. And he wasn't a stick-around kind of guy.

Or was he?

More About the Author

Thanks to an aunt's love of genealogy, Christyne discovered both Louisa May Alcott and Harriet Beecher Stowe are members in her extended family tree on her mother's side, so she firmly believes her love of writing has always been her destiny.

Her father served in the Air Force for twenty years which resulted in her birth in Taipei, Taiwan and spending her youth growing up all over the world before her family settled in New Hampshire in time for her to attend high school. She followed in her family's rich military history and joined the United States Navy where she fell in love with romance novels after discovering someone remembered women were serving aboard seagoing vessels and sent a box full of paperback romances to her ship, the USS VULCAN AR-5.

She started pursuing her own writing six years ago and sold her first ever 'finished' manuscript in 2006 and made her first sale to the Special Edition line at Harlequin in 2008. She writes contemporary romances full of life, love, a hint of laughter and perhaps a dash of danger too. Christyne loves the challenge of the boy-meets-girl, boy-loses-girl, boy-gets-girl-back and the journey of joy and hardship two people go through. And there has to be a 'happily ever after' or she's just not satisfied.

When she's not writing, she can be found hunting for treasures at yard sales and antique fairs to add to her collection of memorabilia of women who served in the military, watching classic romantic movies and the great movie musicals of the 40's and 50's, and reading books by her favorite authors.

She lives in central Massachusetts with her family and works full time as an executive assistant at an energy technologies company. You can email her at chris@christynebutler.com or visit her website www.christynebutler.com!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yummy Tortured Hero, June 6, 2010
This review is from: The Cowboy's Second Chance (Silhouette Special Edition) (Mass Market Paperback)
Lando Cartwright is about as tortured as heroes come. The world has dealt him some heavy blows, but he takes them like a man; consequently, he's a man I like. And Maggie Smith is the perfect woman to help him find his way back.
Christyne Butler has written a book that pulled me in and didn't let go. It had been a long time since I'd read a cowboy story, but she's made me eager to read the next book in the series. I'm glad I found this new Harlequin author.

5.0 out of 5 stars great read, June 30, 2011
This review is from: The Cowboy's Second Chance (Silhouette Special Edition) (Mass Market Paperback)
Landon Cartwright defends Maggie Stevens against some men working for her rival ranch owner, and gets beaten up by them. In steps Maggie and takes the nearly unconscious Cowboy home with her.

Landon Cartwright comes to Destiny looking for a job. He only wants to board his sick horse, earn his pay, and hit the road again. He is a very tortured hero, since he feels responsible for his wives and child's death 4 years ago.

Of course he falls for Maggie and her daughter, and eventually heals and stays. Both characters are great and the book is very recommendable.
