This review is from: A Cowboy's Touch (A Big Sky Romance) (Paperback)
Abigail Jones pours her whole life into her job as an investigative reporter for her mom's magazine. When her mom begins to worry about Abigail's hypertension, she sends her on a 3 month vacation to Moose Creek, Montana to relax and check in on her elderly great aunt. Abigail ends up taking a summer job as a nanny for a rancher's 11-year-old daughter, Maddy. Abigail soon discovers that the rancher, Wade Ryan, is the long lost famous rodeo champion that fell off the radar soon after the suspicious death of his wife. When Abigail later learns through a phone call from her sister that her mom's magazine is about to go under, she decides to uncover Wade's secrets for the perfect article to save the magazine. Through the summer, Abigail and Wade start to have romantic feeling for each other, but neither one of them want to act on them for their own secret reasons.
This is one of those books that I found myself staying up way too late to read! I just couldn't put down! I love Montana, and Denise Hunter did a great job of taking me there through the wonderful details in her book. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good western romance!

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderfully romantic, involving and heartfelt, January 22, 2012
This review is from: A Cowboy's Touch (A Big Sky Romance) (Paperback)
A true cowboy is a man of faith, patriotic, loves "the land", is good to horses and dogs and tolerates cats. He adores his family and friends. He would give his life for his country and his loved ones. Upon first glance, all of these characteristics may not be readily apparent. Sometimes, cowboys hoot and holler. Sometimes, they are quiet and thoughtful. They are always worth a second look. Denise Hunter writes these characters so well, and her depictions of ranch life plant your feet right in the dust of the prairie. In "A Cowboy's Touch", Wade Ryan is a man of few words, but his feelings run deep. Abigail Jones is an investigative reporter whose boss just happens to be her mother. Concerned with Abby's workaholic tendencies and her hypertension, her mother sends her off to Moose Creek, Montana to check on her elderly Aunt Lucy. She is to spend the summer there and observe her aunt to determine is she is still mentally capable and able to live on her own without assisted care. Aunt Lucy has always been eccentric, so what's normal for her is not really "normal". Abby enjoys being reunited with her aunt, but her aunt's home is barely big enough to house the two of them and all of the dolls her aunt makes to sell in her shop. When an opportunity comes up to be the live-in nanny for her aunt's landlord, Abby takes the job. She quickly bonds with the girl in her care, Maddy, and she is soon quite captivated the quiet cowboy charm of Maddy's father, Wade. Abby's investigative instincts tell her that there is much more to Wade than a widower raising his daughter on a working ranch. When she discovers his real identity, breaking the story could be the sensational headline that will save her mother's failing magazine. However, revealing the truth will destroy the safety and security that Wade and Maddy experience living at the ranch. Their location will be exposed and their lives will be disrupted by the media and the world at large. Helping her mother will hurt two people whom Abby has come to love with all her heart--Wade and Maddy. Wade never expected to ever love and trust another woman, but having Abby in his home to care for his daughter made him long for a love to call his own. Abby didn't come to Moose Creek to hunt down Wade and make him a "paparazzi's prize". She just stumbled onto the story by accident--or was it part of a higher plan? Her reputation as the "Truthseeker" is well earned. You can run from the truth, but you can't hide from it forever. Abby's heart knows that someone will be hurt no matter what her decision about Wade's story. If she lets her mother run with the news, then the magazine and the jobs of the employees will be saved. Wade and Maddy's privacy and peace of mind will be destroyed. If she protects the man and child she has come to love, then she will let down her own mother and the people with whom she has worked for years. Hearts in hiding can never be truly happy. When all is revealed, will the healing power of love and the cleansing strength of faith bring together three hearts meant to be a family? "A Cowboy's Touch" is an involving, wonderfully romantic read. I am in love with Denise Hunter's "Big Sky Romance" series. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Cowboy's Touch, September 30, 2011
This review is from: A Cowboy's Touch (A Big Sky Romance) (Paperback)
My Thoughts:
Workaholic Abigal Jones aka The Truth Seeker is a succesful columnist and is forced to take a well needed hiatas from her job. Her boss whom is her mother is concerned with her daughters health. She banishes her to her Aunt's home in Montana not only for her health but to check on her aunt because they fear that her aunt is slipping into dementia. But the kicker is her mother insists that Abigal is to stay there for three months.

The author, of course, has added a handsome widowed rancher, Wade Ryan owner of the Stillwater Ranch, as her aunt's neighbor. To top it off he has a darling daughter, Maddy that is in dire need of a women's influence in her young life.

Lies and deception are strong in this story on both Abigal and Wade's side which creates any chance at friendship between the two, much less love.

I did not want to put this book down. Definitely one of my favorites.
I highly recommend A Cowboy's Touch.
I gladly give it a 5 out of 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Cowboy Romance!, July 2, 2011

I eagerly awaited this new genre from Denise Hunter, as my favorite romance is that which involves cowboys. Denise did not disappoint as this was a very, very good book. Some reviewers may say it is predictable, but what romance novel isn't? I really enjoyed it and the ending was great - not as predictable as you would expect. It had romance, as well as life lessons learned through Abigail's and Wade's choices in life and how they handled decisions they made. Aunt Lucy was an interesting supporting character, as well. I read the book in no time at all and now am back to waiting for Denise's next cowboy romance, "The Accidental Bride," featuring Shay from this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Read, Your gonna Love It!, May 31, 2011
This review is from: A Cowboy's Touch (A Big Sky Romance) (Paperback)
A Cowboys Touch, by Denise Hunter is a really fun read, you will fall in love with Abigail Jones a very loving character, who is a writer for her mother's magazine in Chicago, Abigail tends to work too hard too many hours and is under stressful deadlines which is affecting Abigail's health, her sister also her physician has instructed her and their mother that Abigail must rest. The only way Abigail's mother can accomplishes this is by having Abigail go to Montana to check on her deceased father's favorite relative Aunt Lucy while on a mandatory 90 day leave.

Aunt Lucy and her husband live in a small house on a ranch where Aunt Lucy's husband worked until his death, the owner (sexy Marlboro type cowboy) Wade Ryan honored Lucy's husband by permitting Aunt Lucy to stay in the house as long as she wishes, Aunt Lucy is a little eccentric but otherwise a very lovely lady and Abigail adores her.

Ryan bought the ranch some years before to start over and raise his daughter after the loss of his wife. Ryan only wants to make it from one day to the next, and to take care of the ranch and Maddy. Circumstances throw Wade Ryan, Abigail together, with her investigative mind set, she sets out to find out everything that there is to know about Wade. The first being how did Elizabeth Ryan die and what did he do before buying the ranch and why did he leave Texas?

This book has everything from boot scooten to fireworks, your gonna love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, May 19, 2011
This review is from: A Cowboy's Touch (A Big Sky Romance) (Paperback)
I am loving this book - it is a true pleasure to read. Such a fun premise with lots of questions and heavy issues underneath it all - I really enjoyed this book to the last page. I am glad that this is the beginning of a new series for Denise, it looks like it will be a great one!

Abigail takes a forced trip to Montana to visit her Aunt Lucy for the summer because she is supposed to be relaxing and taking a break from her job as an investigative reporter. And just when she isn't looking for it, the biggest story of her career lands in her lap and she doesn't know what to do with it when her heart gets tangled in the middle. This book had me turning the pages, and fast, and I was sad when it was over - definitely a keeper!

5.0 out of 5 stars "A Cowboy's Touch" by Denise Hunter, May 3, 2011
This review is from: A Cowboy's Touch (A Big Sky Romance) (Paperback)
I received this book free through Thomas Nelson's Blogger Review program.

I have to say... I LOVED THIS BOOK! If you want a fun, light and romantic read, please pick this novel up. You will not be disappointed!

Abigail Jones is an over-zealous work-a-holic who is working herself into the ground. Her mother demands that she takes a leave of absence for the sake of her health and sanity and she finds herself in Moose Creek, Montana. How much further from the culture of Chicago can she get? However, Abigail is one of those kind of people that always has to be doing something with herself or she becomes restless.

Wade Ryan is a single dad that is just trying to provide a safe and loving home for his growing daughter, Maddy. Summer is quickly approaching and Wade is in a panic trying to quickly find a last minute nanny for his daughter. Maddy, being the lovable girl that she is, makes quick friends with Abigail and begs her to become her live-in nanny and her father agrees.

I'm sure you can see where this is all going...

Although the plot is predictable, it is lovable. Sometimes predictability is exactly what I want. I want to know that my characters(friends) are going to be okay and that they WILL live happily ever after. Some people criticize that, but I embrace it. I will quickly snatch up a book that promises to be one of those books that I will give a long SIGGGHHHHH afterwards. This was one of those books. Will I read this book again? Yes! Will I recommend this to my friends? Yes! (And I already have!)

I just wish I didn't have to wait so long in between Denise's new books....

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Denise Hunter winner!, May 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: A Cowboy's Touch (A Big Sky Romance) (Paperback)
I have long enjoyed Denise Hunter's books and this one was great! Abigail Jones goes to Mooose Creek, Montana (A place I'd like to visit, too.) to check on her great aunt and get some much needed rest and relaxation. Instead she finds a job as a nanny to an awfully handsome cowboy with some secrets. I won't go into anymore plot details because I don't want to ruin it for those seeking help from these reviews. This book is another winner and I'm looking forward to the next one.
The author writes in such a way that her reader feels as if she's part of the story and can actually see the story. I loved the banter between Wade and Abigail. He was a romantic rascal and so was she!
Don't miss this one!
