I saw Dana perform last night to an small audience that spanned 3 years-old to 85. He absolutely captivated everyone. Small girls, chin on hands watched without moving. Teenaged boys stopped showing off. Older women clapped their hands. Every face had a smile. When it came to the sing-alongs, even the stuffiest old guys belowed out the words. 1.0 out of 5 stars Huh?
I don't get it. I've listened to as much of this guy's music as I could stomach. His voice is certainly nothing to write home about. The music is amateurish/boring as hell. I think I pretty much resonate with what he has to say -- but I don't find anything clever or engaging in the way he says it.
Maybe he's one of those artists you have to see live to really...

This is fun music but with serious messages about how we live. Parents get this CD (or tape) and share with your kids, even the grown ones. The rest of you, share it with your friends. I bought this CD from Dana and played it all the way home. Oh yes, when I went into the show, I had no idea who this guy was.

5.0 out of 5 stars Serious fun, November 9, 2002

"Cows With Guns" is one of the best humor-with-a-point songs I've heard since the days of Tom Lehrer. Perfectly paced, wonderfully witty, carefully self-aware ("Bad cow pun..."), and carrying a serious message wrapped in gentle and imaginative humor. Nicely done, Mr. Lyons -- and I'm glad to know that the chickens in choppers are on our side.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Wonderful, July 2, 2000
By A Customer
Cows with Guns is one of those songs that's been propogating across napster for some time...but the rest of the CD is definetly worth the money. "RV" and "TV God" are pretty strong satire. From there, the CD slides into more storytelling/ecological songs...the music is wondeful, the humor is great. Worth every penny several times over

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Family Sing-a-long, November 30, 2000

Our entire family loved this tape. We played on an 8-hour car ride, coming and going, and it was super. Our kids (ages 6 and 8) are still singing these songs around the house. The adults appreciate the messages in the songs, and the kids love the tunes. Some of the lyrics may be considered "PG," but the humor and the message make them appropriate.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Songs, September 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I like the first two songs, Cows with Guns and RV. The rest are okay. The problem I have is that there is something wrong with the cd and it does not stop. I can scroll through and it goes to 30 tracks with no end in sight. Maybe they forgot to do something to it.

Maybe he's one of those artists you have to see live to really appreciate. I have to admit that from his pictures, he seems to have great hair (Dana, dude - who's your stylist?)
Even though it was written more than a generation ago,I find Tom Lehrer's stuff from the 60's (TWTWTW) to be far more clever, insightful, musically interesting (although he couldn't sing worth a damn either), and relevant.
