Using infrared, black-and-white film, his works give a glow to the cows that highlight their natural dignity and power. Contemporary contributors include renowned artist George Rodrigue, Nobel-prize winner Vernon L. Smith, and country music greats "Whisperin'" Bill Anderson, Larry Gatlin, Doug Kershaw, and Tanya Tucker. The book also includes classic ruminations from the likes of Robert Frost, Groucho Marx, and even Mrs. O'Leary, whose cow was mistakenly blamed for the great Chicago fire. Holy Cow! This book is beautiful!,

Rarely does a book with half-and-half photography and text succeed, as this one does. The photographs are gorgeous and speak for themselves. The book would have been lovely if kept to that. But the text passages add further depth to the experience, rounding out the images with engrossing stories, observations, and lyrical passages on these lovely creatures. One comes away with profound appreciation for the common pasture cow, and keen anticipation for Mr. Hileman's next photographic foray.

I am an amateur photographer, and I know how hard it is to take pictures using infrared film. You have to load and unload the film in complete darkness, and the film can never be exposed to any light whatsoever. So I appreciate these beautiful pictures of cows very much, as I imagine they were very difficult to take. And the pictures are beautiful! And the passages of text and stories are fun to read. I will buy this for everyone on my Christmas list, kids and adults. Everyone likes cows.

I've waited monthes for this book to come out and it sure was fantastic. The stories inside were interesting to learn about the things that I never knew about cows. I am a cow fan and animal lover. This book will be placed next to my other cow merchandise. Great book for any one who loves cows. I recommend this item.
