4.0 out of 5 stars NIGHTMARE to assemble!!!!
In addition to the tools required listed on the 2 page, 27 step instructions, you will also need: A sledgehammer, Xanax, liquid dish soap, power drill and band aides.

I will start by saying so far my son likes this car. It is still in the house though since the roof is not screwed in because there were no holes to put the screws into. I do not own a power...

3.0 out of 5 stars happy but...........
This is a great toy that my two year old had to have. But it is extremely difficult to put together. I have little girls who wanted the pink version and there appears to be a serious problem with the contruction of the vehicle the front bars do not appropriately fit the model and the door does not stay in place. The directions are kind of a free for all as is the case...

I do not own a power drill, so my son will have to wait for Grandpa to come and finish assembly before I can let him take it outside.

It took 2 hours for me and my brother (both handy enough) to put the car together. The instructions could be explained better plus the pieces did not fit right. For the life of us we could not get the roof on. The left yellow arm would not snap in and neither would the roof. We literally pounded it with a hammer and nothing. We even turned the car upside down and tried pushing them on that way. Then we went on-line and checked the reviews (something I should have done before purchasing the car). A reviewer suggested using dish soap. That and every ounce of strength in your body will do the trick. All the pieces for the roof required the dish soap in order to snap in.

Overall it seems like a durable car since we pounded sections with a hammer and it didn't crack. The door could stay closed better though and the cheesy key and horn could have been a little more updated.

Definitely pay the extra $$ ... whatever the cost ... to have this assembled for you. Can you put a price on your sanity?

The injury to my arm received while trying to pop the roof on is healing nicely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lil Tykes ROCKS again!, December 5, 2003

I am addicted to the lil tykes name. This is another hit in our home. It is sturdy and sun! My daughter got this for her 2nd birthday. She LOVES cars and was excited when she saw it.

It has been tumped over on its side and used as a stool, slid all over the house. It withstands EVERYTHING my daughter dishes out!
The extra compartment behind the seat is perfect for a sippy cup as well. But BEWARE only one child fits in this awsome Lil Tykes car!

I have twin boys, and boy did they LOVE these things! We did have to get 2 of them of course :) They sat outside in the weather, both winter & summer, and didn't look much different this year, than when we got them 3 years ago.

It's too bad that the sound effects weren't attached to the car instead of the key chain - the key chain of course became lost some where along the road.

My only other warning is the age listing on this toy. They say it is from 18 months to 5 years, and they are correct. After five, my guys started thinking up too many dangerous things to do with them. So we had to hand them down to our neighbors. A family with 4 small children who are now all fighting over the 2 cars - (grin).

But my children really played with these things almost every day, and they both were not happy when it was time to get rid of them - well worth every cent we paid for the pair of them.

This is just as good as the "standard" cozy coupe II only more colorful! It really stands out on the street. When I decided to purchase a ride-on car for my son, I wanted to get him one that wouldn't be confused with the three others on our block. This car fit the bill!

The blue roof is easy to spot and gives my son a sense of uniqueness. The kids often fight over who gets to ride in the "blue car".

As well built and durable as the other coupe cars, this has been a winner with us. Be different. Go Blue!

4.0 out of 5 stars He Loves It, But Mom & Dad Hated Assembly, June 25, 2005

Chalk up another reviewer as frustated to DEATH because the instructions may as well have been written in a language foreign to me. They just don't work - and you end up assembling how you "think" it should go, but be prepared to still be miffed that you can't "follow" simple directions.

As for the roof, I'm going to have my husband try to use the previous posters suggestions because I finagled it for almost and hour and couldn't get the sucker on.

He'll also have to drill new holes for one of the wheels because the existing holes don't line up enough to get the "axle" through.

I know he'll love it - the neighbors have one and he lives in it, but I agree with a previous review - pay the $10 to have it assembled in the store.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love this car, January 7, 2005

I just bought this blue and red car for my 19 mth old son and the bright pink and purple one for my 3 1/2 yr old daughter. They have been in them almost nonstop since my husband put them together. They have a lot of toys but these seem to be their all time favorites so far. We haven't tried them outside yet because of the weather but they have been having a great time just sitting in them indoors. Fortunately we weren't missing any items like some of the other reviewers and it took about an hour to assemble for my husband who is good at putting things together. He had to drill a few things and use a hammer to make everything fit perfectly but other than that no problems. The website for the magenta one is misleading though since it does just have a button horn and not the multiple sticker panel featured. And the "vanity" plates are just stickers with "Little Tikes" on them. The key ignition is just a plastic clicking sound too. So you might think you are getting a more deluxe product by reading their description. It is however still a great product in my opinion and we are very pleased with it.

This is a great toy that my two year old had to have. But it is extremely difficult to put together. I have little girls who wanted the pink version and there appears to be a serious problem with the contruction of the vehicle the front bars do not appropriately fit the model and the door does not stay in place. The directions are kind of a free for all as is the case with most childrens toys. Toys R us is no longer helpful, it seems they are so preoccupied with closing stores they forgot that customer service is a valued asset. Needless to say beware of assembly. It appears that the bars are from a different model and it may be only the case with the pink car but I would be wary.

First let me start off by saying,my 15 month old has a great time with this toy!! Now in saying that, you have to be HERCULES to put it together!!!Most of the parts do not fit together the way they should. The top of the car is very hard to get together, seems like once you get one piece in the other piece comes apart again!!!Then the steering wheel is difficult also.We ended up taking the first one we baught back, due to not fitting right. We recieved another one, this one had scratches all over it!!But OH well!!! It worked we kept it and our daughter loves it !!

We bought this for my son after we were told he liked it at his daycare. They were right. We actually have it inside right now and he loves playing with it. He takes his bears for rides in it and makes sure he has his cup in the back.

My son is in love with cars, so I bought this for his 2nd birthday. I asked to get it assembled at the store, but the cashier assured me it was simple and not spend the extra money. Upon getting home, I realized this was no small task. Like the previous review said, the bars that attach the roof to the frame of the car do not fit. I've had 3 other people try to get it in place with no luck. I called Little Tikes directly and they told me to lubricate the end of the bar with liquid soap and then to pound into place with a mallet. Still doesn't fit. As soon as my son wakes up from this nap, I'm returning this toy. Definitely looks like a lot of fun, but the assembly is not worth the aggrevation. If you do buy this, let the store assemble it for you.
