My mother purchased this item for my daughter for Christmas. Since she was going to be out of town for Christmas I decided my daughter could play with it. Everything about this set is garbage from the construction to how the mix is pressed through for the brownies. I spent more time doing everything since my daughter couldn't get it to work right. The sprinkle part dumps out too fast.
Save your money on this one....

We bought this for our 7 year old daughter for Christmas. She's always wanting to help in the kitchen and so we thought that getting her a kids version would be a good idea. Well it wasn't. We had to return it once because the parts were not correct in the first box. Second box everything was there and it was easy to assemble, although it does require a lot of pushing to get the batter stand properly snapped into place. We followed the directions step by step for mixing the cake and the instructions are quite simple. However, remind your kids to put the nozzle flow to the closed position or you will have a HUGE mess on your hands. However, even with the nozzle flow closed the water for the mix still leaks out. So your child must be able to dump the mix in and then slowly stir in the water to try an avoid making a leaky mess. We just decided it was easier to mix in a bowl and then poor it into the cupcake dispenser to get the experience of using the nozzle. Well get ready for round 2 of messiness. When you open the nozzle to let the batter pour into the pan, be ready to immediately close it in order to keep the batter from overflowing the pan. The nozzle continues to drain batter even after the slide is closed because it has a reservoir. Off to the microwave to "bake" the cake. 30 seconds...ding! I now have a cake the size of a small cookie. Let's mix the frosting. Easy enough. Spreads fairly easily if you put in enough water. Now to the sprinkles station. Not only does it barely leave room to slide in your iced goody, it has a slide open and closed system similar to the cake batter stand. If you don't open and shut it quickly, you'll be flooded with sprinkles. Then to top that off the station doesn't rotate the cake properly. We ended up having to do this by hand because of the mess it was making. On a good note, the cake was actually edible! SO! Was it worth it? No. She enjoyed it for all of a day before we decided that it was more fun to do the real thing together than try to mess with that thing again.
So cake batter dispenser leaks. Sprinkle station doesn't rotate properly or give you enough overhead room to work with. Cookie dough press is so-so in its functionality. Food taste is not too bad. Overall, we spent wayyyy more time cleaning up the messes made from the stations than we actually did making the product. Save yourself the heartache, go buy some silicon muffin forms and get a recipe for microwave cakes to do and buy a tub of ready made frosting. You'll enjoy that much more and your child will have a lot more to show for her effort than a cake the size of a small cookie.

Cake mix was damaged and got all over everything that was shipped in the box. In a way that was a good thing because when I opened it to see what happened, I noticed how cheap it was made. So totally not worth the money. However, I was very happy with my return experience. Kudos to Amazon for always being very accommodating.

My daughter really wanted this bake set for her birthday. She is very disappointed and we are both frustrated. It is cheap for a reason. Its components do not work properly, it had no instructions to put it together, and comes apart easily. One knob required superglue straight from the box. While it's a great concept, it needs more work and is definately not going to last more than a day or two.

I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing but it was what my granddaughter really wanted. Making the brownies was impossible. What a ridiculous method. I think maybe we'll use it for playdough!

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my daughter. Upon opening it, there were pieces missing. This seems like a number one reason to give a poor rating, but when I called customer service (expecting a loooong phone call with less than desirable results) they took my information and promised to mail out the parts immediately. Took 5 minutes and literally two days later I had the parts.
So then the second reason I wanted to give this a really low rating - it's cheaply made, doesn't work nearly as well as they make it seem, the cakes and brownies taste terrible and it is extremely messy to work with. However, my daughter had a blast with it and that's the bottom line isn't it? It was for her after all. I wish that it were a better made product and it wasn't so messy (it took me almost an hour to clean up when we were finished) but I didn't buy it for my satisfaction, I bought it for hers. And she's happy so to me, that's a success.

This toy was a lot of fun for my 6 year old daughter, however, the stuff did not turn out like the pictures suggested. It is also a bit messy to try to clean the parts after "baking". But, it is fun for kids to get to actually "bake" something on their own.

I read all the reviews and agreed with some, but thought some people took it to far. This is just a toy. It's not going to be super functional. But my daughter and I had allot of fun making messy cupcakes and flat cookies. The sprinkles went all over the place, and we had to giggle. My daughter really thought she was a real baker. We liked the fact that they cook in the microwave instead of a hot light or "ice". It works just fine and she is able to do it herself. There is a lot of assembly, but nothing I couldn't figure out in about 10 minutes. And the most surprising thing of all - the taste! We enjoyed all the packages.
She is 4 1/2 and didn't know what to expect. I guess I could see an older child unsatisfied with this toy. But we are ready to buy a refill!

I could not wait to write this review to hopefully save someone their money! This is the worst toy ever!! The concept looks good when you look at the box, and the desserts look delicious, BUT they do not come out looking like they do on the box. Not that anything usually comes out like the box, but I was hopeful. I don't even know where to start! There is an instruction sheet for how to prepare the various mixes but nothing on how to assemble the pieces. You kind of have to just look at the pictures. It wasn't hard but still, they should have included instructions. The 'mixing' station is a joke. As soon as we put the water in to mix the batter, it leaked through the spout even though I had the door closed so I emptied it into a regular bowl and went from there. The turn tables don't turn smoothly. The sprinkle container sits so close to the platform, the cake/cupcake would barely fit underneath. The brownie mix was hard for my 6 and 3 y/o to mix and half the mix ended up on the floor. The press for the brownies was decent at best but still a big waste of time. The batter was so sticky, it was hard to stuff into the press. When the cookies and brownies baked up, they were so horrible looking! Basically what it came down to was that my girls mixed everything in separate bowls using real utensils and then I microwaved it. Didn't use it past the press and one shot of the sprinkles.
I rarely write reviews unless I feel so strongly about a product and I will assure you this is a waste of money and time! I hate wasting money so it will kill me to throw this set away but I will never try to use it again. It is much more rewarding to cook real brownies and cakes/cookies with your kids letting them work the mixer and pour the water, etc. than to use this high priced, low quality piece of crap!!! You can't help be drawn to the cuteness of trhe packaging which is why I bought it for my girls. I just can't understand how this passed testing at Cra Z Cookin!

We bought this toy from a local toy shop. It looked really cute. When we got it home, we had fun putting the pieces together, but the actual cake mixes were a disaster -- messy and did not produce anything worth looking at, let alone tasting. I would definitely suggest to anyone considering buying this toy that they get something else.
