Ok yes Rainbow Loom was first BUT this is just as good!! My daughter bought this for herself from the Toys R Us & I was nervous at first & wished we bought the original Rainbow Loom because of all the negative reviews I read. I gotta say I am 100% happy with this product! People mentioned that the rubber bands keep popping off, well I seriously believe that is just because they are not holding the band's down properly with their finger while they loop. If your child is young they might have a problem with this at first BUT if you point it out & actually sit down & do it with them the first few times this issue will resolve quickly. I absolutely love this set & I have to say I am hooked myself. Another complaint was the instructions, sure anything like this will seem complicated upon first glance but pop on YouTube & watch some videos & your set. I made every style bracelet in 1 night & it got easier & easier. This is something that the more you do it the better it gets & from what I understand as you advance you can even add beads. Soooo long story short, no I don't think Rainbow Loom is "better" I think they are exactly the same & your little girl or boy will be perfectly happy with it if you help them at first.

This was a gift for my daughters 10th birthday. She loves it and all the kids in her class as into making these too. She likes making them so much she even helps her 4 year old sister make them for herself. It can be a little hard for them to learn to loop the bands at first. But after a few tries it was all good.

I purchased this loom from our local Toys R Us. It's awful. It's hard to navigate. Hard to hook the bands over the posts because they have such a prominent hook on the tops. And the instructions are dreadful. The first, and easiest, bracelet option has full instructions and is easy to follow. The others have instructions that are vague, misleading and, in some cases, completely unfinished. They just stop...mid-bracelet.

I returned this item and went out and bought the original RAINBOW LOOM (found on Amazon here Twistz Bandz Rainbow Loom). It has instructions for just the most basic bracelet, however, it is far superior. The posts are much easier to get the elastics on and off. The elastic are much easier to see since the loom is clear (and not hot pink) in color. It also has a removable center section so you have many more options for designs.

I found the far best way to get patterns for different bracelets is via YouTube by searching "Rainbow Loom Tutorial". Obviously not all tutorials are created equal, so you may have to weed through a few duds to find a quality video.

This product is really best for 8 to 9+ if you want kids to be able to do this without adult assistance. My 6 year old has excellent fine motor skills, but she still needed my help. But my 8.5 year old seems to be the perfect age to be able to learn the basic stitch on her own and then build on that skill.

After replacing our old loom with the Rainbow Loom and watching YouTube we are happily making bracelets.

My daughter received this for her birthday and the band bracelet making has yet to stop. As a matter of fact my 9 yr old girl got her 6 yr old brother to love this too. So I had to buy another kit and they are simply addicted to watching video's on youtube of different designs and trying to make them on there own. Great gift for 10's of hours of joy for your child!

My daughter purchased the cra-z-loom with some birthday money. All the kids at school are doing this trendy craft, and she wanted to keep up. The loom works as described, but only after a few trials and errors with the process. Once the learning curve has been overcome, the product is easy to use and produces really pretty, unique bracelets and other items that kids can trade with friends. They are even going to sell their handmade bracelets to raise money for their 5th grade school trip this year. I would recommend purchasing extra bands right away because local stores run out before their supplies even hit the shelves--that's how popular this product is with the 5th graders. Also, you can get more for the money on Amazon.com than you can in the craft store. If your child is patient and smart, she will really enjoy working this fun craft.

I have 3 boys ages 3, 6 and 10 and they all like to play with it. The 3 year old likes to put the bands on in patterns, the 6 year old can make the bracelets all by himself and the 10 year old likes to figure out the more complex bracelets. As stated in previous reviews, the directions are a little confusing, so adult guidence is required for the younger children but nothing too difficult.

Handmade, wearable art is an enduring and endearing fashion expression of school-aged youth. From headbands and string bracelets to duct-tape bags and knotted scarves and hats, all manner of original designs and functionality sweep through the schoolyard year to year.

This season, the big thing is the "crazy loom," a pegged board on which small bands can be attached to create a variety of colorful rubber-linked bracelets and necklaces. Give into this craze and purchase this item for your child or family. Not only will they learn to follow pretty intense directions, they are rewarded for doing so with an intricate and beautiful design. The loom builds a positive feedback loop into their efforts as they share experiences and product samples with their family and peers (right now, I'm wearing two of the dozen or so bands my kids made me).

You know a craft is something special when both 3rd-grade boys and 5th-grade girls are coming together on the playground to swap ideas, compare styles and trade bands. The loom opens up this kind of cross-age and gender participation and skills building. If only art class provided this kind of artistic and colloborative fun.

Peer acceptance and social groups are important influences even at the elementary level. Encourage your child's positive growth and development of this kind of "social learning" through this unique and affordable fad.
