I own a lot of cake and dessert cookbooks and this one is one of my favorites. The recipes are all easy to follow and each one has a picture to accompany it, a must for me as I like to look at the pictures to help me decide what to bake. The cupcakes decorations are basic and the book has a fantastic easy to follow picture guide on how to create the signature crabapple swirl. It has a great section on frostings as well as a technique guide for applying each different frosting.
The suppliers list is for Australian stores as it is an australian cookbook, but all the supplies are easily found elsewhere.

This book is Australian, so all the measurements are metric and alot of the ingredients were unfamiliar. Other than that, it should be fine when I have the time to convert the measurements and ingredients.

While the photography in the book is really lovely, I've found books with much better recipes. I made the basic cupcake recipe three times and every time they came out tough and chewy. The recipes in The Whimsical Bakehouse Little Cakes from the Whimsical Bakehouse: Cupcakes, Small Cakes, Muffins, and Other Mini Treatsbooks have far superior cupcake recipes - not overworked and very delicate.

The measurements in this book are all in metric, but it's a simple process to convert, as us Aussies have to do with U.S. books.

If you're looking for inspiration with design, this book will certainly do that, but if you're looking for a great recipe - go elsewhere.

Yes, it is Australian and (shock! horror!) the measurements are in metric... But the recipes are delicious. The author runs a shop in the Prahran markets in Melbourne and the book is based on recipes sold there - so all tried and true. The recipes range from lamington and hummingbird to classic carrot or a wedding cake of cupcakes. Graham shows how to present the cakes to make them stand out. I bought it for myself and then for two sisters-in-law and we were inspired to go to the shop in the markets.

I bought this book based solely on the cover, I loved the picture! I have tried a few recepies on it and they all turned out perfectly. the 4 star is given just because the measurement sistem is funny, half is metric half is volumetric... and yes, as another reviwer said it comes out more batter than stated for the n. of cupcakes... :)

Dang!!! I just received this book today. I wish that I would have known before my order that the measurements are all in metrics. I also noticed that some of the ingredients listed on a few recipes are not readily available in the US.

I was cruising the internet and came upon a site that had photographs of lots of things, but my interest was CUPCAKES. Oh my goodness, the photos of cupcakes from the Crabapple Bakery absolutely captivated me. I went to the Crabapple Bakery website. I was enthralled. I immediately tried to get this book, but it wasn't available for a long time.

I waited several months to finally get this book and the wait was worth it. This is a beautiful book filled with amazing photos of the most magnificent cupcakes.

I own almost all the cupcake books that are available and this is by far my favorite. Buy the book. You won't be disappointed.

This cookbook is more than recipes, it provides a lot of direction on the essentials for baking great cakes. I have baked a lot of cakes and cupcakes but never knew why some cakes turned out better than others. This book explains what are the best ingredients and how to prepare them to get great results. The cupcake and frosting recipes are delicious and easily explained to get great results even by an amateur cook. The author has shared her secrets to make us all good cooks.

I signed up for one of Jennifer's classes through the CAE in Melbourne and was a little disappointed that all we got to do was decorate the cupcakes that she had already made and that we had no recipe with which we could mak our own. So, after several references to her book during the class, I decided to buy it. It has lots of recipes and very clear instructions as well as great photos to inspire your own variations on her decorations.

I have made the basic cupcakes recipe with great success and the vanilla buttercream frosting. I have had slightly less success with the frosting, the first time it was great but since then I haven't managed to get the consistency quite right and it has tended to get a bit soft and lose some of the shape of the decoration but I think that's my problem rather than the recipes.

All in all a great book and I can recommend it.

I loved the pictures. Instructions are easy to follow and measurements are very simple to convert. I like how it lets you incorporate each ingredient one at a time instead of just adding everything at one time. I truly believe this is why it was simply delicious. I baked the vanilla cake, cookies and cream filling with vanilla buttermilk icing. Everyone loved it! Can't wait to try some more recipes.
