5.0 out of 5 stars The Bible of Crabbet Breeders, April 1, 2004
By
Gari Dill-Marlow "Deputyhorse" (Fair Oaks, CA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Crabbet Arabian Stud: Its History & Influence (Hardcover)
THE CRABBET ARABIAN STUD by Archer, Pearson and Covey could not have been written by three more knowledgeable people short of Lady Anne, Lady Wentworth or Wilfrid Blunt! Mrs. Archer is a governor of the Arab Horse Society and was the protege of Lady Wentworth, Mr. Covey was the stud manager and last owner of Crabbet Arabian Stud and Mr. Colin Pearson served as Secretary of the Arab Horse Society longer than anyone else in the history of the organization. All knew Lady Wentworth extraordinarily well and Mr. Covey was not only close to Lady Wentworth but knew her parents since his birth as his father was their first stud manager. Each writer was well acquainted with the background of the stud, the family and knew the horses intimately as individual creatures physically, emotionally and genetically. Simply stated their words bring home with considerable force the importance of Crabbet to the world's leading Arabian horse breeding programs. Without the Crabbet Arabian, the modern Arabian horse would not be the animal it is today. There would be no straight Egyptian, straight Russian, straight Spanish, straight Polish as the horses are contemporarily recognized but for Crabbet Park's Arabian Stud. If a breeder wants to know the Arabian horse and the integrity with which the modern Arabian evolves-this book is Arabdom's Grail.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Crabbet Arabian Stud, December 16, 2002
By
Theo L. Wagner (Temecula, California United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Crabbet Arabian Stud: Its History & Influence (Hardcover)
This is the most comprehensive, accurate, informative reference book ever written on the subject of the Crabbet Arabian Stud - the breeder and creator of the original foundation stock of nearly every Arabian horse breeding program in the world. There are no books on the subject of the Arabian horse that can compare and this is a MUST for the serious breeder.
