3.0 out of 5 stars It's My Turn
Crack Head II by Lisa Lennox is the well anticipated sequel to Crack Head; which featured Laci and the SBB's (South Bronx Bitches). This story picks up where Laci vanished trying to get her life back together after the SBB's tricked her out and turned her into a crack head. 3.0 out of 5 stars It's My Turn, November 10, 2008
This review is from: Crack Head II (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Crack Head II by Lisa Lennox is the well anticipated sequel to Crack Head; which featured Laci and the SBB's (South Bronx Bitches). This story picks up where Laci vanished trying to get her life back together after the SBB's tricked her out and turned her into a crack head. Laci and Dink are trying to start a new life away from drugs, crime and especially the Bronx where all this drama started. Through counseling and a new set of friends, life is looking up for Laci, until she is forced to remember her drug addicted past.

Dink is a former kingpin and decides to leave all of that behind to lend a helping hand to a recovering Laci; his motives are questioned since he had built an empire back at home. Laci tries her best to cope with everything but feels that she will not be complete unless vengeance is served. Seeking out her old friends, the SBB's, she sets a trap that will leave each lady wondering why they never saw it coming. This book had a slow but steady pace and even though it was an enjoyable read, I would have preferred a different ending.

I recommend Crack Head II to fans of Ms. Lennox and those who are wondering what ever happened to Laci and the SBB girls.

2.0 out of 5 stars Where has the love gone?, November 1, 2008
This review is from: Crack Head II (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
I was HYPED 2 receive this book in the mail when I first learned of it being a part 2 to crackhead which, was OFF THE CHAIN. When I started reading I'm like o.k it's going 2 get better. NOT. I think she should have gotten better revenge than she did that was 2 petty. They'd b out of their situation in no time. Laci, went through alot, embrassment, stooping 2 levels I wouldn't want 2 imagine and at the end i kept flipping pages thinking there's got 2 b more. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED. TOTAL WASTE OF MY MONEY.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down!, October 29, 2008
This review is from: Crack Head II (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
I have to admit that I haven't read the first one, but this book stands completely on its own. Laci and Dink, as well as all of the South Bronx and Boston University characters, are so well developed and the plotline is a very clear and smooth read.

The scenes were incredibly realistic. Readers will definitely feel a roller coaster of emotions as each character matures and develops into their own.

Although the book involved some sex and drugs, there is a certain feel to Crack Head II that may work well for younger readers, but I'm certainly not a teenager and I thought it was a really good read. Don't trust friends you know aren't true to your game...

3.0 out of 5 stars "KEEP YOUR ENEMIES CLOSE", October 29, 2008
By
This review is from: Crack Head II (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
I have to say Crack Head II started out very slow in the beginning, however it did pick up toward the middle of the story. "Crack Head II", by Lisa Lennox picks up where "Crack Head" left off. Laci and Dink start their new life while leaving there past behind. The questions is will they be able to move forward with their dreams without interruption from their past.

The details of Laci's past drug addiction were so vivid and extremely depressing at times. Lisa Lennox did an outstanding job bringing life to the characters in "Crack Head II". I recommend this novel to all young readers; there is an extremely important message "KEEP YOUR ENEMIES CLOSE TO YOU, AND REMEMBER TRUE FRIENDS WILL HAVE YOUR BEST INTEREST AT HEART." I give this novel an 8, great job Lisa Lennox for your outstanding work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Redemption or Revenge?, December 25, 2008
This review is from: Crack Head II (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Julacia Johnson known as Laci the Riverdale privileged has spent a few months recovering from a volatile drug addiction; triggered by four women she thought were her friends. Laci and her boyfriend Dink, the former boss of a South Bronx drug ring leaves it all behind to start over in Boston. With Laci fighting the demons of her past addiction and Dink struggling to adapt to the legit life away from his former drug empire, can the past keep them from pressing forward.

From the streets to the classroom they both begin a new life with the pressures of their past pushing at the heels of their feet. Unfortunately the past soon catches up with them and once Laci is slapped in the face with it; that realization triggers something inside of her so strong she can taste the revenge.

What I truly enjoyed about Crack Head 2 was the fascinating way Ms. Lennox weaves street life with college life. The individual surprises crocheted delicately into the story never missing a beat. The characters are so strong they easily become your friends. As you read their story you will form an immediate opinion about them whether negative or positive.

I didn't read Crack Head; however Ms Lisa does such a wonderful job with the flashbacks the reader doesn't feel cheated. This avid reader and book collector will be purchasing Crack Head because of Ls. Lennox writing style and story development. (smile) I feel like I was "drugged" into the story with every page I turned.

3.0 out of 5 stars Revenge or avenged..., December 19, 2008
This review is from: Crack Head II (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Lisa Lennox brings us up to par with Julacia 'Laci' Johnson only six weeks after her involuntary, horrific experience of being strung out on crack cocaine. She and her savior, Darryl 'Dink' Highsmith have enrolled in college in an effort to escape their drug-infested past. Laci is still struggling with her demons while finding herself thrust into an empowering venture in an attempt to regain her self-esteem and further her education. The college life proves to be a challenge as Laci must face her fear of interaction with her peers as well as learning to trust people again. The pain she endured because of jealous people haunts her as she muses what she could have did differently or why they hated her so much.

Dink has retired from `the game' and passed the baton to his young protégé, Smurf, who's adjusting to his new position and the wealth that comes with it. Smurf wants to change his mother's way of life, but has to deal with the realization that the more things change, the more they remain the same. Tonette, Shaunna, and Monique are all still in the same clique. Monique yearns for a different way of life and wants to break the tie that binds her to Tonette and her evilness.

Crack Head II is a sequel that is a questionable follow-up. The author does indeed answer the few questions that the reader may have had from the first read, but six weeks is hardly long enough to truly make a difference in a sequel. There is no definitive growth in the key characters, and the secondary characters proved to be more interesting. The storyline had potential, but the author fails in delivery. Great editing job though considering this is the first TCP publication that I've ever read and found not one error!

4.0 out of 5 stars What About Those So Called Friends!! (token), October 22, 2008
This review is from: Crack Head II (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
Teenage Laci is back, and trying to kick her past drug addiction inflicted upon her by her not so called friends The South Bronx Bitches. Supported by her boyfriend Dink, Laci is trying the college life and getting her future back on track, but the flash details keep reappearing how the SBB's turned her out on crack. On the other side of the dirt is Smurf, one of Dink's past Lieutenants has graduated to the full HNIC with Dink's approval, and a mysterious man by his side called "Dirty," who comes to town to show and shape Smurf, that staying on top will be taught by him with rules and regulations. In the middle of it all, is a detective trying to solve the deaths of Dame, Marco, and Crystal. The closer the detective gets to solving the murders, the more closer Laci gets back with revenge of the so called SBB's.

I have to say this book started out very slow and picked up toward's the middle. The details of Laci's past addiction was so vivid and depressing at times, I was blown away. Eventhough, the author gives us some past details, I think one should go back and read the first book Crackhead to really understand Laci's past and get the full effect of where she is headed. The characters were brought to life, and I think the author did a good job writing and reflecting on past events. This can be an important and interesting book for everyone to read especially TEENAGERS. There's also an important message that make you want to tell your son or daughter "Watch out for THOSE SO CALLED FRIENDS!"

3.0 out of 5 stars Crack Head II, October 14, 2008
This review is from: Crack Head II (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
The second installment brings the reader where "Crack Head" left off. Laci and Dink start their life anew leaving there past behind. Will they be able to move forward and pursue there dreams together without interruption of there past.

Crack Head 2 was an okay read. This story teaches that if at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again. The story starts to pick up towards the end. Laci and Dink were sick and tired of all the negativity that was going on in there past, that they accepted the positive that came there way with open arms. I commend Lisa Lennox for writing a story about how one can overcome an addiction and how we as individuals will do anything to feel accepted by our peers. Not only our youth but anyone can learn from this story.
