A Great Debut,
By KC (Charlotte, NC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cracked Tiles (Audio CD)
1. Intro-A simple intro, cool sounding2. Fire-A great way to start off the album with a very rockin track, features an insanely fast rap by Violent J of ICP in the third verse as well as a cool guitar solo. 3. Sunny Day-This is a unique song that sometimes is laid back and sometimes rockin out, but no matter what's happening it sounds great 4. Prison Song-This is mostly accoustic until the end where it rocks out. Great concept and very well put together. This seems to be one of the favorites 5. Fly -This veres are done by J and Shaggy of ICP with the chorus sung by Zug's singer, Syn. This is a very unique and interesting track filled with cool effects but still rocks out some. It would be very hard not to ejoy this one 6. Suicide - A juggalo classic right here. It's a hard hitting rockin song that is very very catchy. And no, it's not saying suicide is a good thing or anything, just listen to it 13. SLAM! - A lot of people don't like this song. I will admit that I didn't like it when I first heard it but after a while I got used to it and now I rock along with it. It's pretty crazy. I haven't seen Zug in concert but I heard even from people who dont' like the recording lovin it live. It' sjust a crazy song to SLAM to So overall this CD rocks. It's very diverse and the production is top notch. The lyrics are all very well thought out and written by Violent J of ICP, because this started as his project before the actual band Zug Izland was formed. Syn comes with a great voice and team that up with Mike P's song writing, guitar playing, production, and programming, you got a great album

Versatile Rock to the Fullest,
By Ian Scottish (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cracked Tiles (Audio CD)
This album is amazing, Zug Izland seriously brings such an awesome and unique style to the table that many can appreciate. However, just because you like everyone else on Psychopathic Records does not mean you're gonna like Zug Izland...and just because you hate everyone else on Psychopathic Records doesn't mean you're gonnna hate Zug. They have their own style but are comparable to a Seether, Stain'd or even at times a Pearl Jam or Nirvana but they still keep their own flavor. Each member really stands out, especially Mike Peezy's guitar and production, Syn's unique voice, and I personally love Dan Miller's keyboard style. Violent J from ICP wrote the lyrics on here and had a lot to do with the project, proving he is more than just a one-dimensional rapper. The only complaint I have about this album is that I personally wasn't a big fan of "Small Town" since it's Southern Rock and I really don't like that stuff and even if I did, it's still a below average song musically. I also wasn't big on "Synplicity" since I felt too many guest appearances were crammed on the track and the rapping just didn't match the song. If it weren't for those two songs however, this would be a 5 Star Album in my eyes. The other tracks were awesome all-around, and the album even includes a cover of "Cry" from the Lost Boys soundtrack, which I personally like even more then the original. Check this CD out and you may very well be surprised.

this album was only suppressed in a wall of amazement by the fact that i downloaded some of the songs, or should i say almost all of them, before i got the album. the songs on this album had a feeling of familiarity in some of the beats, like i heard the songs before but it's about freakin time i found them, type of familiarity. syn was the right pick for vocals and there is only a slight hint of juggaloism in this music. that just adds to the flavor of the cd. i only wish that they would come out with another cd. that's how much i like this one.my favorite songs (even i downloaded them much earlier) are sunny day and prison song. what really got me to want to hear more of their stuff was the song i heard off forgotten freshness vol 3 entitled fly away. the deep thoughts gets to ya right in the soul.

Zug Izland- BUY IT!!!,
By warren ross (Boulder City, NV) - See all my reviews

You have got to buy this CD! There is no real way to describe the music correctly. It's a cross between punk/metal/industrial/rap. Zug Izland themselves describe it as TOXIC. The song, PRISON SONG is worth the pruchase of the CD itself. It is a song kind of in the style of Guns and Roses "I Used To Love her, But I Had To Kill Her", but better. This is going to be one of the CDs that just explodes into the mainsteam market. Buy it, you won't be sorry!

Awful, Confused Mess,
This review is from: Cracked Tiles (Audio CD)
This cd is all over the place and it sounds like it was made by a bunch of middle schoolers. On one song, they're screaming like punk rock rappers, the next is something acoustic. I understand "Always" is about Violent J's brother, but it sounds like it belongs on christian rock radio. There are a few songs on here, which keep the cd from being a coaster. "Prison Song," "Fly," and "Cry" are very good. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who likes good music. If you're a juggalo and you want to scoop up everything ICP has a hand in, you could pick it up. But really, anyone with any ability to discern good music from bad music ought to skip this one. There are so many different styles used, and poorly done, that it just shows immaturity and confusion about what this band is as an artist. There are so many bands who mix different genres of music and do it well, from Authority Zero and Sublime to System of a Down and the Expendables. There's really no reason anyone should waste their money on this. It sounds like a mixture of Limp Bizkit, Creed, Adema (only way way worse), Bionic Jive, and ICP. Honestly, one of the worst CDs in my collection of over 2000. I'm giving this 2 stars instead of one because there are fleeting moments where it sounds like this might be a decent band, and its possible that this is so awful because of Violent J's production and the association with the Juggalo brand (get real kids, its not a family, its a brand sold to you by ICP and bought up by the Juggalos). I'm afraid the association with these clowns and the catering to their audience has jeopardized a band with a lot of potential by alienating people who would otherwise be their fans (nu-metal/hard rock/rap hybrid fans, and even punk fans). Its very sad this cd is Zug Izland's introduction to the music industry. I see very little of what Zug Izland is creatively, while the whole cd is stamped with Violent J and ICP sound.

This was an alright cd, the music was great, some of the lyrics were great, etc. Only Violent J wrote it, so its not Zug Izland. Most of the track are too mellow, and some of the more rock songs are kinda like punk. if your a juggalo who liked Amazing Jeckl Brothers, youde like this.

Love these boys man. They couldn't be any more down to earth...don't believe me, tap into their home page and read what they write in the bio section. For real they're the shhh..it. Can't wait to pump the new tracks when they come live to my cd player! Cracked Tiles is great, Zug Izland helped me through some ruff turf with this album.I must agree with jon from mesa az usa, Violent J's quite the hog sometimes, but you gotta givim' love...even if he's all over it like icing to a cake! The similarities between Syn (lead vocals) and Violent J's voice is right messed up. Anyway, love this album, and you should too! OH, "john ledyard"..you need to clean out your ears and listen to these guys again, or open your eyes and look at the juggalo world, cuz you don't belong here.

This Album Is The Ultimate!!! That's the only way I can describe how amazing Zug Izland is, watch for their new album 3:33, its set to come out in early May, so keep your eyes peeled, and get ready to have your cap peeled back! If you haven't heard anything off Cracked Tiles , or you haven't bought it yet, BUY IT!!! you won't regret it! it's unlike anything ever heard on Psychopathic Records and is well worth a listen. This CD is the most well thought out and possibly the deepest music I have ever heard, while on most songs the guitar playing seems fairly simple, it adds a great feeling to the music and you really get a sense for who Joe Bruce is with his writing on this album
