Buford McDougal is modeled after a legendary singer/songwriter and raconteur from central Florida. At least that's what people said. I believed, so with great effort I tracked him down-which is to say I stumbled upon him at a back porch pickin' party-- and made him tell me about life and love. The resulting discourse was transcribed from his own words. You could call Buford a "Wise Fool." You could call him a wild wonder that keeps us from taking ourselves too seriously. Or you could just call him late for dinner. Whatever you call him, hitch up, hide your daughters, and enjoy the ride.

You WILL laugh... and maybe even learn something too.,

Terra Pressler writes a captivating little book, filled with humor that will make you laugh, but also with a type of down-to-earth wisdom. I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up the book. The title was not something with which I was familiar, so I was pleasantly surprised when I picked the book up and realized that inside were pithy comments, quotes, philosophical but humorous ramblings, with a 'make-you-think' type of wisdom.
What I like the most about the book is that it is an easy read, that you don't have to finish in one sitting, because of the 'quote' style of the writing, but that is funny and interesting enough, and short enough, you CAN read it in one sitting. However, the humorous wisdom behind these little quotes will have you flipping back through the book time and again to remind yourself of an anecdote you will probably want to share with someone else. I would imagine too that those native to Florida will also find an even deeper wisdom and understanding of the humor in this book, since Buford proudly hails from those parts, but anyone can understand and relate to the humor and philosophy shared here. Honestly, I laughed through the entire book, but at the same time I found myself nodding that 'knowing nod' of understanding and agreement with the deeper meaning behind the humor. I highly recommend this book, and you might want to buy more than one, because this is an excellent gift item for a friend.
