way too easy compared to the real SAT CHEM subject test,
By

this book's practice tests are nothing like the real SAT... i bought this book to study with, did the practice tests, felt ready, and was utterly shocked when i took the SAT CHEM subject test yesterday. The real test is a lot harder than than this book's practice test. I was able to get 800's on the model tests in the back of the book, but when i took the SAT's, i wasn't even able to complete the whole test within the given hour...
i would suggest finding another source to prepare with

I wasted my money,

The tests in this book do not approximate the difficulty of the real test. Practice tests like this do a disservice to students who go into the test thinking they are better prepared for it than they are.

NOT too easy,
This review is from: Cracking the SAT Chemistry Subject Test, 2005-2006 Edition (College Test Prep) (Paperback)
I don't know why people are saying the practice tests are too easy - I never got above a 740 on the practice tests, but I got a 770 on the actual test.

This is the one that offered full explanation to the questions. It means that they didn't only tell WHY A/B/C or D is true but also WHY the rest are not.
The book is thoroughly written and easy to follow, in every chapter they offered multiple choices questions as well as CE ones. Kaplan's, Barron's did not have CE type questions. Kaplan's review practice quizz followed are even worse, they're not multipla choices at all! However this book is easy, and it may not guarantee a 800.

Way too Easy,
This review is from: Cracking the SAT Chemistry Subject Test, 2005-2006 Edition (College Test Prep) (Paperback)
I got a 710 and 730 taking the quizzes (given, I've forgotten everything from AP) and I don't think I had enough time to answer enough questions to get more than a 710.
The actual test is much harded. I am giving it two stars because at least it had the right format, if not the right questions. I did not deal with the review sections of the book so I will not comment on that. But I bought the book for the quizzes and I was not prepared.

This book is good to get in September to summarize topics learned in class or to study from in May or June for an SAT II. If you are looking for a book that will OVER prepare you, the consensus is Barrons. I have both and I can tell you that Barrons is thorough where Princeton Review is brief. My friends last year used this book and did very well (think 700+) so it isn't dooming you to fail. I used Princeton Review for biology last year, and I must say it is pretty good at showing you the types of questions and how things are asked. In conclusion, Princeton Review is good for a crammer with two months or less, or as a quick way to get main ideas.

Buy it it rocks!,
This review is from: Cracking the SAT Chemistry Subject Test, 2005-2006 Edition (College Test Prep) (Paperback)
Getting a 700+ on the SAT2 requires more than just a review book, it requires study. This book is a great help if you learn the material, and take the practice tests. You go in feeling prepared and knowing how to manage your time. No magic bullets, just good preparation and practice with this book works miracles. The book doesnt teach you chemistry- it teaches you college board chemistry- all its going to teach you is how to put what your teacher said into SAT format and get the right answers- it works! ( i got a 710 !!!)

SAT Chemistry,
This review is from: Cracking the SAT Chemistry Subject Test, 2005-2006 Edition (College Test Prep) (Paperback)
This book is thorough and detailed. You can go at your pace and go back over anything you don't understand, as many times as you like. It even has techniques to help you learn to associate concepts. I give this book 4 stars because it has really helped me so far, but there's always room for improvement.

THe practice tests is what really made this book great. They were a little easier than the real thing, but are helpful. The review is very good, showing that you only need a broad knowledge for the test. If you are taking a regents exam (NY) then this book is helpful because it does not use reference tables, forcing you to actually know the tings you do. They did a good job.
