5.0 out of 5 stars TRUST ME! BUY THIS BOOK! (2010 students too!), May 12, 2009

I've read them all.
Spark Notes, Cliffs Notes, Kaplan, Barrons, 5 Steps to a 5, and more.

And Princeton is definetely the best.
Within the Princeton Review book, there is a comprehensive review of the multiple choice section and the essay section. As most multiple choice sections in each book are very similar, I'll focus on the essay sections. It goes over each kind of essay (Stylistic Analysis, Synthesis, and Argument) with specific, easy to read, understand, and integrate into your writing, making it a very solid section. I'm talking structure, style, and methods of writing. It has great advice and tips, stuff you really should know. Honestly, a treasure cove of knowledge. You'll be so glad you read this.

These sections blow all the others out of the water, with the exception of the 5 steps to a 5 book. It has an equally good essay section, though I prefer the Princeton section. Princeton has more tips, and is easier to read. Plus the 5 steps to a 5 book is older, and has not been recently updated.

Then there's additional sections that make this book the clear best choice. There's a lit. terms and vocab section. It goes over all the important lit. terms you need to know, and ignores the ones that aren't important. It doesn't stop there. Next is a overview of the different types of fallacies you should know. If you can reference these in your stylistic analysis, congragulations you get an 8 or a 9. It explains how to avoid them in your writing. Very useful stuff to know. Finally there is a section on the rhetorical modes, explaining each type, and which to use in your one writing.

Once again, I've read them all for you. This is the only one you need to read, and you do need to read it. I am very impressed with this book, and can get you that 5 you've always wanted!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the Perfect book for a Perfect score!, July 1, 2011
This review is from: Cracking the AP English Language & Composition Exam, 2008 Edition (College Test Preparation) (Paperback)
I went into AP English Lang & Comp thinking that I would receive a very poor score on the exam. This book proved that even the most challenged AP English student can receive a stellar score! The book is very detailed going over the 3 types of essays: rhetorical, argumentative, and synthesis. It offers a "Hit Parade" of about 200 words that you are most likely to encounter on the AP exam. I started prepping for the exam a few weeks before the exam skimming stuff. I studied the vocab from this book the 2 days before the AP exam and took a practice AP exam included in the book literally the night before the exam. On test day I wasn't too confident about the test and actually feared that I failed it. I hesitated but called in for my score and guess what?
I GOT A 5! I know for a fact that without this book I would have failed the AP test or would only have been able to score like a 3 at best. USE THIS BOOK. It has so many terms and concepts that ARE tested on the AP exam. Stuff you might not go over in your average AP Lang class. Get this book or the updated Princeton Review version for whatever year you are taking it. Woooooo Thank God and good luck on your AP exam! :)
