5.0 out of 5 stars NOT THE OUTDATED, BORING PREP BOOK
This book is the shortest, sweetest AP English Lit prep book on the market. I bought about five others, but this hits the spot. It is casual, readable, and the essay-writing advice was the BEST of all. Using the Princeton Review's method, I was able to belt out essays like never before: and I'm the type that takes my time in essay writing!

BE WARNED: Nothing...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Enough Review Materials
Princeton Review publishes many excellent prep books, but this isn't among them. The only recommended method for "cracking" the exam that I could find was the advice to read widely. I didn't need to spend good money to find that out. There is no survey or summary of the AP English Lit. syllabus, such as important books, literary movements, rhetoric or important authors to...

This review is from: Cracking the AP English Literature Exam, 2004-2005 Edition (College Test Prep) (Paperback)
Princeton Review publishes many excellent prep books, but this isn't among them. The only recommended method for "cracking" the exam that I could find was the advice to read widely. I didn't need to spend good money to find that out. There is no survey or summary of the AP English Lit. syllabus, such as important books, literary movements, rhetoric or important authors to help fill in the gaps in one's knowledge. The sample tests give one a sense of the test format, but the answers won't be of much use beyond answering the particular question, in the unlikely event it shows up on the test you take.

Wonderful resource - very helpful in reviewing key concepts for my students before writing the AP exam. Also good to use for ongoing review to help students with at-home practice on key concepts introduced in the course.

Highly Recommended. This book was a big help for my daughter. The principles and strategies that she needed to understand to score well on the ACT are covered in great detail. This book also gives incredibly thorough explanations for the correct answers. This alone makes this book well worth the effort. She aced the ACT exam and received 12 full college credits for both Lit and English Language/Comp due to studying and using this book and another: "KAPLAN AP English Language & Composition" HS SENIORS: IT IS WORTH STUDYING FOR THE ENGLISH AP!
