5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book Out There, June 10, 2005
This review is from: Cracking the AP U.S. Government & Politics Exam, 2004-2005 Edition (College Test Prep) (Paperback)
Thanks to this book, I am confident I got a 5 on the AP Test.

This book is outstanding to say the least. Tom Meltzer and Paul Levy do a fine job with this book; someone EASILY can use this book and get a 5 without taking the AP US Government and Politics class.

The first thing that I found when I ordered this book was that it was brief and too the point. I also have the Barrons book for AP US Government and Politics and its just horrible. The content is so confusing, and at many times, it seems like the author is expressing his own opinion, rather than explaining subject matter. If its on the test, its in this book.

Another thing I found helpful were the hints found in the beginning of the book. Sure they included obvious things like get a good nights rest and eat breakfast, but then they focused on tips for the AP US Government and Politics Test.

The practice tests for this book are simply amazing. I took one of the two availible practice tests the night before the AP Test and I remember at least 4-5 questions from this book being on the test. My regret: I DIDN'T TAKE THE SECOND PRACTICE TEST!!!!!

If you start reading and taking notes with this book even 2 months before the AP test, and then for the 3 weeks before the test review your notes and take practice tests from the book and from your teacher (hopefully he or she has the official collegeboard released exams - one comes out every 4-5 years), you WILL get a 5.

Excellent preparation for the AP Test.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Review Book, January 7, 2005
This review is from: Cracking the AP U.S. Government & Politics Exam, 2004-2005 Edition (College Test Prep) (Paperback)
I took the AP US Government and Politics Exam last year and got a 5. The only reason I got a 5 is because of this book. It is an excellent book which gives you a very good review of all the concepts you will need to know. However the practice tests are a bit easier than the actual exam. My teacher gave us plenty of practice exams so that helped me. Overall I recommend this book to anyone who needs a good review of the concepts.

This book really is the best one out there for the AP US exam- I should know, I bought all of 'em :). The practice exams are by far the most similar to the actual exam- the section about the exam itself and the different sections of the test also came in handy, as well as different explanations for the correct test answers. It provided the right balance between vague and full of superfluous information, a problem I had with other books. It definitely helped me ace the exam....I'm forever grateful!
