This review is from: Cracking the Hard-boiled Detective: A Critical History from the 1920s to the Present (Paperback)
An excellent and very readable critical study of the origins and development of this quintessentially American genre (influenced in its infancy by some heavy hitting Victorian authors). Addicts of the genre looking to delve behind the scenes of their habit will not be disappointed.
