The best of all the NCLEX reviews.,
By
This review is from: Cracking the NCLEX-RN with Sample Tests on CD-ROM, 7th Edition (Professional Test Prep) (Paperback)
The prime reason I am writing this review is because of the first review which is simply incorrect. I would like to give the author of this book a medal because it is concise, interactive and anyone that goes through the book and does all the exercises, will pass the NCLEX. I took Kaplan (waste of time), ATI (some of the books are good but the DVD are worthless) and the NCLEX-RN made incredibly easy and none of these even come close to Cracking the NCLEX-RN. No I am not related to the author and she is not paying me zip for this review. If she wants to, she can, but it isn't necessary. I like it when I get my money's worth and this book was worth it.
You might ask, "what makes this one different?" and I would say that it is due to the interactive exercises that begin on page one and continue throughout the book. I am a dummy and I learned things that have puzzled me ever since beginning nursing school. I also liked the NCLEX quizes at the end of each chapter together with rationales. Other books simply give the answers and you have to look in an appendix to find the rationale. The only thing bad about this book is the size as it is big. Look at it this way. It's big because studying for the NCLEX is a big job. This book keeps the studying to a minimum and doesn't waste any time or effort. Everything has meaning and I really appreciate that kind of book. I am anal as hell and I cannot find anything about this book to criticize. The CD was perfect and I just don't get what critique number one was referring to. I went over each and every question and I didn't even find a typo. Sorry for going on and on, but I stick up for things that I like. If I didn't like it I would do the same incidentally. This book is the one to buy.

I mostly used the CD-ROM, which was full of errors. It scored things incorrectly, and some questions had the wrong answer as correct- really, really obvious things, such as saying that marbles are a good toy for an 8-month-old baby, or that a bicarb level of 116 is low! It was poorly formatted and just overall a horrible experience. I wasted my money.

I have just passed my NCLEX-RN exam last December 2003. This book is a very good source as a review material in preparation to your incoming NCLEX-RN exam. The illustrated images makes it easier to understand. It helped me pass my NCLEX-RN exam, I'm sure it would help you too!!!
