Great Asset to AP World History Class,

This review is from: Cracking the AP World History Exam, 2011 Edition (College Test Preparation) (Paperback)
My daughter's teacher recommended, but made it optional, this book to use along side their regular AP World History Textbook. My daughter has benefited over and over again from this book as it explains and makes the textbook much more understandable. It will also be a great tool as she takes the AP test at the end of the year for college credit. A great investment, worth every penny!

This helped me achieve a 5 on my AP World History Exam! I definitely recommend this to anyone taking AP World, since it is one of the hardest AP classes. This book gives very concise paragraphs on what you need to know for the exam, nothing more. It's even pretty funny (I laughed out loud a few times). The practice questions in the book are extremely similar to the questions on the AP exam. Definitely 5 stars!

Princeton Review > Barron's,
This review is from: Cracking the AP World History Exam, 2011 Edition (College Test Preparation) (Paperback)
Most likely if you're looking to purchase a review book for AP World it's between the Princeton Review book and the Barron's version. After reading nearly all of both review books, and then taking the AP World test, I can tell you that the Princeton review book does a much better job of narrowing down the information to what is necessary. The review questions at the end of the Princeton book are also much more similar to those found on the test. For AP World, Princeton Review offers a more organized, more focused, and overall superior review book to that of Barron's, it helped me to get a 5 on the AP Exam.

SUPERB study supplement!,
This review is from: Cracking the AP World History Exam, 2011 Edition (College Test Preparation) (Paperback)
This PR book did an amazingly thorough job reviewing the AP World History course. Being that the class covers 10,000 years of history, PR was spot on!
The chronological organization makes the material very easy to understand and keep track of. Within each unit (five units) there are sections, and within each section mini-sections. Their summaries for each mini-section hit all the important, main points you should know. At the end of each unit there is a timeline--VERY useful. It's also user-friendly. Headlines for mini-sections are creative and amusing--they helped me remember things. I went through this book three days before the exam I took last week (not recommended) and felt very confident. I'm positive I got at least a 4. My teacher has been teaching AP World History for 14 years, and although we had lots of homework, he really prepared us. We used "World History" (4th edition) by Duiker and Spielvogel. Everything in the review was in the textbook, so it really WAS a superb review. Use this textbook throughout the year and the PR to study for the exam. Trying to shove down all the info in PR and truly understanding it without reading a textbook is not a good idea. Repeatedly going over topics helps for them to stick in your brain. I had a friend who used the PR throughout the year to study for tests we had in class, and then used it at the end of the year to study for the AP exam. I'd also recommend this. The first 100 pages would be helpful for those who are self-studying or have clueless teachers--it goes over how to efficiently tackle the multiple choice questions and essays (DBQ: Document Based Question, FRQ: Free Response Question, and Compare/Contrast). If your teacher already went over it, skip it and get to the good stuff. The actual content review is 200 pages long. Basically, this review book is 100% capable of helping you get a 5 on the exam. 100% recommended. Barrons is too in-depth and lengthy--PR is the way to go.

This book really puts all the information together and it helped me pass the AP exam with a 3. I recommend that you start studying early and do all the practice tests in the back of the book!

Not really one star bad, but you shouldn't buy it.,
This review is from: Cracking the AP World History Exam, 2011 Edition (College Test Preparation) (Paperback)
I took the AP US history exam using this book, and, looking back, I don't think the book was very helpful or tailored to the test enough to be of much assistance. Instead of buying this book, I would suggest buying Barron's because it has more helpful review and makes more sense.one last word of advice: when you're taking an AP test, don't automatically buy the book from the brand that has helped you most in the past. Look through a bunch of brands and see which is the best for that particular test. For example, I love the Barron's history books, but I liked the princeton review's AP human geo book much better than the one Barron's came out with.

No one will pass the AP exam only using the text provided by school. You need supportive texts or extensive background knowlege, books like this are perfect for giving you that edge

This book is superb. It has broken down the knowledge required for understanding AP World History -- and also for beating the test. I like this two-tiered approach. Book is awesome.
