The theme to a better Armageddon,
By
This review is from: From the Cradle to Enslave (Audio CD)
Cradle of Filth's EP inbetween the vampiric bloodbath of Cruelty And The Beast and the gates of Midian sports pre-millennium tension on the title track. Satan's favourite band presage the whole new world...this is the end of everything." This song ranks along with "Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids," "Heaven Torn Asunder," and "Cthulhu Dawn," which is probably the new dawn they are referring to in the song."Of Dark Blood" wouldn't be out of place on Cruelty as it is Cradle with its relentless drumming, bloodcurdling screams, and female vocals. They also do a brilliant job in covering the Misfits' "Death Comes Ripping." Their remix of "Funeral In Carpathia" has a few subtle differences but I prefer the original. "Dawn To Eternity" is the link that will tie to the Midian album, with its ominous instrumental section, followed by the explosion sound effects, and the usual COF metal assault, heralding "the end of civilization and the massacre of mankind." Lift the CD out and the listener will find the photo of a hand slicing a bloody wrist with a blade, and a bathtub with trails of blood. These are images from the very extreme video of "From The Cradle To Enslave" found on the Pan Daemon Aeon music video. A good interlude before the Gates of Midian.

GREAT CRADLE OF FILTH EP!,
This review is from: From the Cradle to Enslave (Audio CD)
THIS IS ONE OF MY FIRST CRADLE OF FILTH CDS I LISTENED TO,AND LIKE THE FIRST,IT BLEW ME AWAY! ITS MORE THAN WHAT YOU WOULD EXCPECT DOR A CD WITH ONLY 6 SONGS. SOME SAY "CRADLE TO ENSLAVE" IS THE BEST SONG, BUT I MUST SAY SLEEPLESS AND OF DARK AND f$#KING ARE MUCH BETTER! ALTHOUGH THE CRADLE TO ENSLAVE MUSIC VIDEO IS PERFECT! THIS IS ONE OF C.O.F. BEST EPS! IF YOUR LOOKIN FOR A SHORT YET SATISFYING BLACK METAL CD, I WOULD REALLY RECCOMEND THIS ONE! EVERY TRACK IS GOOD! IT IS MUCH DIFFRENT THEN THE AVERAGE BLACK METAL BAND,I WOULD SAY THEY TOOK BLACK/DEATH METAL TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL! THE ENDING OF DARK OF..... IS REALLY TRIPPY TOO! SO STOP READING REVIEWS AND BUY THIS EP,NOW!!!
LONG LIVE THE FILTH

Well, maybe a 4 and a half,

To put this simply, this is my favortie EP of all time. From the Cradle to Enslave was the first Cradle of Filth song I ever heard and if you are looking to get accustomed to the band then this EP is a good starting point for a Cradle of Filth collection. Although, I think die hard fans would love this too. The title track impressed me the most with Dani's singing ability and his ability to write songs. Although, Of Dark Blood and F**king wasn't too bad either. The best cover on this was easily Sleepless but the others are acceptional as well. Some of the "old school" black metal fans may dislike this though. It actually is alittle poppy (outside of Dani's voice) for a black metal group. Fans of Bathory, Venom, and the infamous Emperor, may find this boring and overdone. All of this is understandable but I guarantee that the price for this album is good for the quality of the music. Black metalists young and old, should really have this in their collection.

A Dark but yet Great EP,
By Alex Collins (Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: From the Cradle to Enslave (Audio CD)
I'd have to say this EP is really great because it blends in the darkness with the way the album presents itself as an epic EP of great proportions. Not only does it include "Death Comes Ripping", in whick CoF does really well on this song originally done by The Misfits on the "Earth A.D." album. This album also includes a great version of Funeral In Carpathia in which is done really ever so nicely!! Here is how I see each song as it is...1. From The Cradle To Enslave- This song sets off the whole EP with a bang, a really good introduction song with great guitars, monsterous like vocals by Dani, and the Sweet embracing vocals of Sarah Jezebel Deva!!! 2. Of Dark Blood And F#cking- The keyboards on this album goes really well with this song, and the growling sounds of Dani, the constantplating riffs of the guitars, and the Beauty of Sarah Jezebel Deva once again!!! 3. Death Comes Ripping- This is a good cover song that CoF done originally done by The Misfits, a horror/punk band...I'd have to say this song is just done right by this great Black Metal Band!!!! 4. Sleepless- This was my very first song I heard by Cradle of Filth and the first time I heard it I was astonsihed at what this whole song was about. The desperate screams of Dani really sets the mood for this song telling us of lost love, the guitars on this song is just great!!!! 5. Funeral In Carpathia (Be Quick or Be Dead Version)- This song has to be one of my favorites from this EP as it is my favorite for also on the "Dusk And Her Embrace" album. The haunting bat screeching like vocals are toned down to a haunting growl on this version, the guitars are really enchanting in this song, and Oh my the Sweet Seductive voice of Sarah Jezebel Deva on this song really sinks in to me as her vocals on all the songs always do!!!!! 6. Dawn of Eternity- What can I say about this album other than really great!!!! The keyboards on this song is set just perfectly and the growling vocals of Dani is done really nicely!!!!! Cradle of Filth is one of the best Black Metal Bands from England and through out the World....this band really has some talent!!!!!!!

Only 2 new tracks,
By Eddie Edwards (Santa Monica, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: From the Cradle to Enslave (Audio CD)
This is a record-company EP, not a band EP. There are only 2 new Cradle songs (the first two), followed by a bunch of cover versions. The remix of Funeral in Carpathia is not worth bothering with. Get this on Napster; don't waste your money unless you're really a die-hard fan. Save it for their next studio album, when it arrives.

NICE STOP GAP,
By "devil-boy" (CANADA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: From the Cradle to Enslave (Audio CD)
This is a nice stop gap before CRADLE releases their new album this year. The title track is a little to mellow for my taste. However, the actual song itself is well crafted and played. They have used a more straight foward approach to their song writing instead of their usual epic style. If this works; we will have to wait and see. The rest however (with the exception of the techno remix) is all CRADLE. Adrian 'AT THE GATES' former drummer is unreal on the second track. Looking foward to hearing more of his work with the band. The two covers are CRADLIZED; and both ANATHEMA & MISFITS never sounded so good. SLEEPLESS sounds tailor-made for them. FUNERAL IN CARPATHIA is almost no differant except a little faster. Overall CRADLE fans will not be disappointed.

Not the best Cradle, but Cradle all the same,
This review is from: From the Cradle to Enslave (Audio CD)
This was my first expierience with the British black metal giants Cradle of Filth. I had been more into old thrash such as Slayer and Megadeth and more new stuff such as Slipknot and Korn. So once Id heard of a band getting praise for making great riffs akin to Slayer and the like, I decided to give them a go. First off, this cd was much cheaper than the rest at my cd store, so naturally this seemed a good place to start. Im quite glad I picked this cd up, as it has changed my perspective on what metal is.The first song is probably the best on here. It doesnt change much in terms of rythm and the like, but it has a really cool vibe that pulls me in every time. The next song is one of their heaviest offerings to date, showcasing the brilliant drumming skills of new drummer Adrian ( much better than Barker in my book!!). It takes a bit of a dip with the Misfits cover, since a black metal band covering a punk song is gonna be a little off anyway. Its not the best, yet it grows on you after time. The Anathema cover, Sleepless, is better than the original, and chills me with the great bassline and keyboards. The last two songs are a little disappointing, as the remix of Funeral in Carpathia isnt changed much, and the last is just...garbage basically. All in all, this is a decent release, but Id reccomend Cruelty and The Beast or Dusk And Her Embrace before this. No matter which you buy, CoF will change your view on what metal truly is!!

FILTHY FUN,
This review is from: From the Cradle to Enslave (Audio CD)
Cradle of Filth (gotta love that moniker) is classic black metal: high pitched vocals courtesy of Dani; scorching fast guitars; gloomy, goth keyboards; and totally incomprehensible lyrics! This is NOT a putdown-this kind of music has no grey area: you like it or you don't,plain and simple. ive it a shot for something you'll NEVER hear on the radio (like they play anythng harder than KORN) and you'll NEVER EVER see on MTV unless you coe up with the payola to get them on TRL like the bubblegum that infests that station.
