5.0 out of 5 stars Fans of 7 Wonders will Love this!
I have 7 Wonders on DS and it was previously my favorite game. This has far surpassed that! It is similar to 7 Wonders in that you have to line up 3 matching "symbols" to clear blocks. The difference with Cradle of Rome is that there seems to be more of a goal rather than just endlessly matching tiles. In this game there are food, resources, and gold tiles which when...

3.0 out of 5 stars great game
This game is fun. I like the fact that you work toward something in the end (buildings). The only thing I did not like, is that after you hit the 100th level there is nothing but stuff to repeat.

In this game there are food, resources, and gold tiles which when you clear you collect to help you build your city. There are also many more bonuses and extras that help you to clear rounds and build your city. Overall it is very fun and not too hard nor too easy. I have been playing it non stop since I got it. I think the replay value on this is good as well. If you liked 7 Wonders or similar game I would highly recommend this!

This is an excellent puzzle game, one of the best games for the DS. I like it better than Puzzle Quest because (a) there are 100 different level designs (screens) and (b) if you fail to complete a level, on your next chance you start with a different arrangement of symbols. This means that if a level is difficult, the frustration level is reduced by the lack of repetitiveness and the feeling that there is always a chance you may draw a better arrangement of symbols on the next try.

There is also a "relax mode" in which you can play any level you have completed on a standalone basis.

Be prepared to spend a LOT of time on this game! But it's quality time.

This is superior to 7 Wonders for a few reasons;
- You can keep playing even if you lose and you don't have to start from the beginning. In 7 Wonders I built 5 of the 7 Wonders, lost my 4 lives and had to start from the beginning. The "cheat" or strategy around this is to turn the game off without saving each time you think you will lose your last life. It boots up to your last location... essentially you can complete the game on only one life.
- The graphics are clearer, making it easier to play.
- Generally more fun and relaxing.

I've played Puzzle Quest, Zoo Keeper and Cradle of Rome, all similar to Bejeweled. You line up three or more tiles in a row to make them disappear. Of the three, I like Cradle of Rome the best. You don't have to worry about a nasty computerized opponent raining tiles down on your field since it's just you playing against the clock.

As you clear the fields, you earn money, food and materials that help you purchase buildings such as sawmills, lighthouses, temples etc. Each structure comes with a mini history of when it was first built in ancient Rome and what its purpose was. It's very educational.

As you buy more buildings you unlock special tiles that help you clear the puzzle fields such as hammer tiles, bombs, lightning bolts, shields or stars. Some of these tiles clear just one square in your field while others can clear multiple squares. This is a big help with the harder puzzle layouts.

While Cradle of Rome may not appeal to everyone, I find it very addicting. As soon as I finish one puzzle, I can't wait to do the next one. Give it a try, it's definitely worth the price.

I purchased this game and 7 Wonders of Ancient worlds and I like this game a lot more. It has the same concept as the 7 Wonders but it lets you play each level as many times as it take until you solve it. There is no penalty for not completing the level on time. It has power-ups that can help you completing the level. The graphics are great, music is very catchy as well. I highly recommend it.

This is a wonderful and totally addictive game of the 3 of a kind genre but so much more difficult than others of this type. I have spent many hours playing this but still not managed to reach the end so if you are looking for a challenge this is the game to choose.

I ordered this game for an upcoming trip to England to give me something to do on the plane. I have been caught out in the past buying a game and then getting on the plane and not really enjoying it, so I now try games before I travel. This game started slowly and was very easy and I wondered if I was going to like it, but the difficulty picked up to an enjoyable level. It is strangely addictive trying to earn enough food/supplies/gold to build Rome and well.....I have almost finished this game and now need to find another game for my trip!

If you like the jewel match games you'll love this. Shorter times for each level than I am used to on other jewel games adds to the difficulty. A few of the boards took me several attempts to complete. Overall a fun, addictive game....so much so that I just couldn't save it for my flight!

Very much like the "Jewel" series. A good game, but too similar to others I already own. However, it is a good buy if the user doesn't already own some of the Jewel series.

I love this game! If you like Bejeweled-style games, you will like this one. The best thing about this game is that if you cannot clear the board before time runs out, you get to start again with no limits on the number of times to restart--no "lives" to lose. The game starts out easy and gets harder as you go.

Out of 30 to 40 games, this is the first one I haven't been able to put down. I don't sleep some nights because I simply cannot put it down. It's challenging and keeps you going against the timer. Best game ever developed for the DS.
