I am addicted to the DS version. I can sit for hours at a time playing, sometimes draining the battery life. I was excited when I found out a Wii version was coming out.
If you enjoy the "match 3" type games like Bejeweled or Collapse, you will most likely enjoy this. With each level, you earn gold, building supplies or food, plus special bonus items that will help you finish the level. In order to "build Rome" you need to earn a certain amount of each item in order to buy either the building or other item to place in the city of Rome. I very highly recommend this game if you are a fan of other "match 3" games.

I purchased this game after reading the reviews (I can't get Bejeweled for Wii). The game is really fun but it has technical problems. I contacted the manufacturer and they are aware of the problem. They said they are working on a solution but in the mean time I'm out of money. You can't review epochs after you begin the game. After getting to the end it doesn't record that you completed because the game gets stuck and make a humming noise. The only way out is to unplug your game. Once you do you have to begin where it last recorded your score, which doesn't recognize tha you completed the game. Not fair to the consumer. Supposedly this happens on some Wii consoles but they don't know why. Purchase at your own risk.

Fun for Fans of "Match 3" Games,

I have had a Nintendo DS for a couple of years, but there are very few games in this category. I played "Cradle of Persia" on my laptop which was great to play "match 3" on. My daughter received a Wii from a friend for Christmas, but she has the more exercise and sport games which are harder for me because I'm disabled.
This game is really great on a 52" TV where you can see the game really well. Since my daughter is so sweet she told me that when I wanted to play the Wii she would bring it up so I could play. We happened to be at one of the "Video Game" stores and I picked up this one and it is terrific. Even "Baby Boomers like me, would find quite a few of these kind of games and I recommend this one for everyone.

I LOVE this game, Since I bought this I havent played any other Wii games , So many levels , you start with a basic island and play the levels to buy items to put on your island , the levels get harder as you go , I've been playing for weeks now and am no where close to being done , and I have a hell of an island !! Its an entertaining game , you wont be sorry, I have so many games and this is the first that I am not bored with just because of all you do , the challange of the game, the levels ,,building the island..just a fantastic game

although this game is very addicting the memory becomes corrupt and you must go in and erase the memory. i had to contact the mother company to find out how to do this and they said it happens in isolated cases but i have 2 games that both are faulty. Destineer did not offer any compensation but i do enjoy the game.

I got this game and I love it, I am totally addicted and hours go by without even realizing it. Only one problem and it is a big one. I finally get to level 100 and finish the game and when I try to hit quit it freezes up and makes this awful noise. It won't save so you don't get credit for finishing the game. I have only had one other game freeze up on me and it was also by desineer. I think that might be the key, so watch out when buying games from them.

The wife and I have finished this game twice on our wii. Well we played it until it froze and we had to unplug our wii but we got to the end. Both times, however, it told us on level 97 that we had failed. It let us finish playing but would not let us buy the remaining buildings. After level 99 we got the celebration screen and it locked up the console.
Getting to the end is reward in of itself so the fact that it doesn't let us finish building the city doesn't really matter. The real annoyances are these: 1) Poor contrast. This game is really hard on your eyes after you have played it for awhile. Too many of the items look similiar enough to other items and on the dark blue background it makes it challenging. 2) The game skips levels. I am not sure why but you can finish level 23 and for whatever reason it skips to 27. This is provided as an example. The skipping levels appears to be random. 3)Rotating bonuses. You work and work to get the better bonuses but then instead of being able to choose the one you want to play with you are forced back the hammer every 8 levels. My wife is really good at this game, far better than me, but there are certain levels in the 90's that she cannot win with the early bonuses (hammer, lightning, bomb, time, cross). Perhaps some massively elite player can but these kinds of game are supposed to be for casual gamers, right? Despite the problems the game is loads of fun but I wouldn't buy it new if I were you.

I purchase the game but found it very disappointing and it also froze up in mid play, froze at the end of the final level which was not nearly enough levels...very easy to beat the level and have plenty of spare lives left. All in all the game froze and I had to risk ruining my wii--had to unplug to get it off...needs work and I need a REFUND!!!!
